Ricardo Lora Zavala Battles to First Place for Title of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Champion for Central Latin America

MEXICO CITY, Mex. (July 2, 2010) – Guadalajara, Mexico recently played host to Konami Digital Entertainment Inc.'s (KDE) Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) World Championship Qualifier for Central Latin America with Ricardo Lora Zavala winning top honors and an invitation to represent his region at the World Championships in August.

The Expo Guadalajara Convention Center hosted hundreds of players representing five Central Continental countries all vying for the coveted title of Continental Champion and the opportunity to compete in the World Championship in the United States. The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship Qualifier was the largest event ever held in Guadalajara.

Zavala squared off against Erick Sánchez Huezca, both hailing from Mexico, for the title, with their friends and peers cheering during the much anticipated finals matchup. Zavala and Huezca played Flamvell Cat and Blackwings decks, respectively.

“The World Championship Qualifier events in Guadalajara were a thrilling experience for the Duelists. We fully expected intense matches from Duelists who have traveled from countries throughout Central Latin America but got more than we bargained for. There were some truly amazing players Dueling this past weekend,” said Yumi Hoashi, Vice President for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

The Guadalajara World Championship Qualifier also offered exciting Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG public events during the weekend extravaganza which included Win-A-Mat tournaments, Go for the Gold, and ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! for all ages, and Dragon Duel tournaments for Duelists aged 12 and under.
