Crunchyroll to Simulcast Historical Gag Anime Tono to Issho

San Francisco, Calif. – Crunchyroll, Inc., announced today the simulcast acquisition of the comedic historical gag anime Tono to Issho. Adapted from the popular “yon-koma” (four-panel) gag manga of the same name in Japan, the title features an all-star voice cast including Gackt, one of the most popular Japanese music artists outside of Japan. Additional voiceover talent includes Daisuke Hirakawa, Tatsuhisa Suzuki and many others. More information can be found at http://www.crunchyroll.com/tonotoissho.

Crunchyroll VP of Licensing Rob Pereyda said: “The historical gag anime genre is extremely underserved outside of Japan. We hope that by leveraging the world class localization team at MX International, we will be able truly ‘translate’ the spirit of Japanese comedy and bring it to a whole new demographic.”

Yomiuri Telecasting producer Tomoyuki Saito said: “We are excited about continuing our partnership with Crunchyroll and working with them on another simulcast. We hope YTV's new attempt brings a unique new world to the overseas market, and look forward to the reaction from fans about our title.”

Tono to Issho will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil and Portugal.
