Cineplex Entertainment, Cinema Asia Releasing, ELEVEN ARTS and FUNimation Entertainment Present EVANGELION: 2.0 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE at Select Theatres Across Canada

Toronto, ON, January 4, 2011 – (TSX:CGX) Cineplex Entertainment (“Cineplex”) and Cinema Asia Releasing, ELEVEN ARTS and FUNimation Entertainment are pleased to announce they are bringing the sequel of the new EVANGELION series to the big screen in Canada. EVANGELION: 2.0 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE will be shown nationwide in Canada, for one night only, on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 7 p.m. (local time) at select Cineplex Entertainment and Empire Theatres locations.

EVANGELION: 2.0 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE is the second of four planned feature‐films that comprise the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy. Advance tickets are now available online at www.cineplex.com/events and at participating theatre box offices.

Story
The story of this 14‐year‐old boy, who has been entrusted with the heavy burden of mankind's fate, is about to enter uncharted territory. Asuka, the heroine whose popularity is on par with that of Rei Ayanami, enters the fray piloting Evangelion Unit Two. Joining them is a new, alluring heroine. The war between the mysterious entities known as "Angels" and the Eva Series heats up even more with the introduction of new Evangelion units. Intense battles the likes of which have never been seen rage across the screen one after another. The excitement of these mind‐blowing spectacles will take the story in a new direction.

EVANGELION 2.0: YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE, is the second film of a four part film series, re‐imagining the scifi animated series blockbuster Neon Genesis Evangelion (also written and directed by Hideaki Anno) which aired on Japanese television in the mid 1990's

EVANGELION 2.0: YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE, was one of the top five highest grossing Japanese films of 2009 with box office revenues in excess of $40 million US.

EVANGELION 2.0: YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE screened at Film Festivals around the world, including the 2010 Fantasia Film Festival, the 2010 SITGES Film Festival, and the 15th Lyon Asian Film Festival (France)
