Tora-Con 2011 Announces First Guests, Dates, Pre-Registration and New Website

ROCHESTER, NY – February 7, 2011 – The RIT Anime Club is pleased to announce dates for this year's Tora-Con as well as pre-registration prices, a brand new website and our first round of guests: Brina Palencia and Uncle Yo!

Brina Palencia is an actress working in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She has voiced numerous characters for anime and video games. Some of her anime highlights include: Natsuki in Summer Wars, Chibitalia in Hetalia, Ciel Phantomhive in Black Butler, Holo in Spice and Wolf, Yumi Azusa in Soul Eater, Sora in Oh! Edo Rocket, Rei Ayanami in Evangelion (the movies) and others. She has also served as ADR Director for Moon Phase (eps 21-26), School Rumble, Black Blood Brothers, and xxxHOLiC (the movie and eps 1-8), Assistant ADR Director for Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, D.Gray-man, The Tower of Druaga, and Dragon Ball Kai, and Music Director for Sasami: Magical Girls Club, Negima!?, My Bride is a Mermaid, Rosario + Vampire, and Dragon Ball Kai.

Uncle Yo has toured many conventions to perform his unique stand-up comedy aimed exclusively at the geek community. Discussion panel leader, game show host and emcee all-in-one, this Renaissance Nerd keeps the laughs coming and the show rolling. Armed with his giant D20, Uncle Yo celebrates all brands of nerdom: anime, comic books, video games, LARPing, Star Wars, RPG's and manga.

Tora-Con 2011 will be held April 16th -17th 2011 on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus in Rochester, New York.

Pre-registration is now available for $20 and will only be for both Saturday and Sunday. Pre-registration forms are up on the official site (http://toracon.rit.edu).

Tora-Con now has an all-new website, launched January 27th. All the Pre-registration, Vendor, Artist Alley and Volunteer forms are available at this time.

ABOUT TORA-CON: Tora-Con was created by the Rochester Institute of Technology Anime Club to provide anime and manga related entertainment to the Rochester area and beyond. The convention is planned and prepared by a dedicated Anime Club E-Board made up of RIT students.

About RIT Anime Club: Founded in the early 1990s, the RIT Anime Club is one of the largest anime clubs in the country with over 150 active members. The purpose of the RIT Anime Club is to enrich the academic environment by stimulating the growth and appreciation of Anime as an art form as well as the awareness and understanding of Japanese Culture. The RIT Anime Club is a not-for-profit organization.
