Mar 1st 2011

LOS ANGELES, CA - March 1 - It has been announced that Spike Spencer will be voicing the character Saburo Togasu from the popular Anime Durarara!!

Durarara!!” the animated TV series is based on the hit novel “Durarara!!” by Ryohgo Narita. This series has shocked readers and the light-novel industry with its unique characters and out-of-this-world story. Ikebukuro, Tokyo, takes center stage, where various young people have gathered, each with their own expectations. A high school student who longs for an un-ordinary life, the strongest man in Ikebukuro, an information broker, an underground doctor, a stalker, a “headless” rider, and many others both cause and get caught up in trouble. This is a story with a tangle of super-extraordinary characters; one where no one can predict what will happen next!

Two years after the series “Baccano!” the creative staff behind “Baccano!” – Takahiro Omori (director), Noboru Takagi (screenplay), Takahiro ishida (character design), Makoto Yoshimori (music), Akira Itoh (art), and brain's base (animation production) – has re-united and created a totally unique and stylish production.

STORY:
Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Mikado Ryugamine is a young man who yearns for the city like no other. At the invitation of his childhood friend, Masaomi Kida, he leaves his hometown and enters Raira Academy in Ikebukuro. Masaomi warns Mikado about some dangerous people in Ikebukuro to watch out for. There are two in particular: the brawling champion Shizuo Heiwajima and hobbyist information broker Izaya Orihara; And also the mysterious organization of unknown origin known as the “Dollars”. On his first day out in the city, Mikado, remembering Masaomi's stories, sees a jet-black motorcycle being driven by the fabled “Headless Rider.” From then on, a series of random attacks and events begin to occur on the streets of Ikebukuro, and a group known as the Yellow Scarves arises as Ikebukuro begins to crumble!

Saburo Togusa - Is a member of the Dollars. He's the driver for Kadota's group. He is extremely protective of his van, and often gets outraged at any sign of damage to it. It is revealed it episode 6 that he cares a great deal for Kaztano, a friend of Kadota's group. Togusa asks himself how he is supposed to live without him, and who was going to support him. Kadota mentions that Togusa and Kaztano were very close, sharing a bond that the rest of the group could not break. He is a huge fan of Ruri Hijiribe.

Although the gang appears to be named after American currency, the name actually comes from the Japanese term "dalla dalla," roughly translating to "useless" and "not doing anything." This is because the gang was created with no purpose in mind, the gang rarely ever actually has group activities, and its members are "colourless" and "invisible," only identifying themselves as Dollars when specifically asked.

The ADR recording was done at the fabulous BangZoom! studios in Burbank, California. bangzoomentertainment.com
