SMASH! and Eminence To Host Memories Of Fantasia Concert in July 2011

Sydney, NSW, 4 April 2011 — SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show, Sydney's annual fan convention devoted to Japanese animation, art and culture announced this weekend that it would host a concert by the famed video game and animation themed ensemble Eminence.

The event would take place at the conclusion of SMASH! at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 16 2011. “We're incredibly excited to welcome Hiroaki Yura and Eminence to our event this year, “ said Thomas Munro, president of the convention's organising body. “We hope that our partnership can continue to grow the local community dedicated to experiencing Japanese arts and culture.”

Eminence Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2003 by violin virtuoso Hiroaki Yura and has since performed a number of concerts in Australia as well as Japan and the United States. They have produced work for a number of video game and animation productions, working with businesses such as Blizzard Entertainment.

SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show was founded in 2007 by Sydney artist Katie Huang with the goal of being a community event dedicated to expanding interest in Japanese animation, art and culture as well as supporting local emerging artists. Since its inception it has moved from the University of New South Wales, to a sell out year at Sydney Town Hall and finally to its new venue at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“We've worked very hard at trying to get the best events and guests to appear for our patrons and we hope that Eminence is just the start of stellar year,” said Mr. Munro. SMASH! has had appearances from numerous international artists, Japanese voice actors (or seiyū) such as Yūko Miyamura and Hidenobu Kiuchi.

Tickets to SMASH! and Memories Of Fantasia will be available online at the SMASH! website on Wednesday 13 April. Tickets to SMASH! will cost $25 online and $30 at the door. Memories of Fantasia will cost $35.
