Eirtakon 2012 - New Committee and Dates Announced!
After another incredibly successful Eirtakon, the final attendee account is in, and the committee is delighted to announce that an unprecedented 1550 anime fans turned out over the weekend, reaffirming the convention's place as the largest and longest-running in Ireland.
The Helix was packed throughout the weekend with the widest variety of events the convention has ever had, with panels, workshops, screenings and games alongside hugely popular new additions such as Fair-takon and Cosplay Blind Date impressing the crowds.
A big thank you to all the fantastic staff and the committee for organising the weekend, and of course the wonderful attendees without whom Eirtakon would not be possible. The planning for next year has already started, with the dates and a brand new committee confirmed.
Eirtakon 2012 will take place in the Helix, DCU's event venue which has proven itself to be massively successful in the last two years. The convention will take place during the weekend of November 9th-12th 2012 and will be the 8th year of Ireland's largest and longest-running anime convention.
"After the success of this year's con, I just can't wait for Eirtakon 2012", said Eirtakon's new director Shannan Walsh. "This year's committee is just full of ideas to make the convention even bigger and better next year and I know we will."
The whole committee is looking forward to the opportunity to bring an even more varied and full schedule to next year's convention, with something to satisfy every anime and manga fan out there. Expect important announcements over the next few weeks and months, as Eirtakon 2012 takes shape and the excitement builds!
