Toriko Joins the Crunchyroll Simulcast Family This Season

Prep your appetites, as the leader in Anime and Asian content invites you to a visual buffet with the addition of TORIKO to its simulcast lineup

San Francisco, Calif. (November 14, 2013) – Crunchyroll, Inc., has an insatiable hunger for new shows. So it makes absolute sense for the streaming media service to add the shonen powerhouse TORIKO to its current fall simulcasts, which is initially set to broadcast every Monday at 10:00am Pacific Time. Starting on November 18, episode 130 will be made available for both premium and free members. Previous episodes will be available on Crunchyroll at a later date. More information can be found on www.crunchyroll.com/toriko.

TORIKO, written and illustrated by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro, is hailed as one of the most popular shonen titles next to giants like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, and Hunter X Hunter by fans and critics alike. Back in 2012, it was the 11th best-selling manga series in Japan with over 3 million copies sold, and continued to exceed that as early as May 2013 with over 10 million copies sold.

The anime version, which has been greeted with critical praise and a positive reception, is directed by Akifumi Zako, with our two protagonists Toriko and Komatsu being brought to life by two of the biggest names in the voice acting community: Ryōtarō Okiayu (Kuchiki Byakuya - Bleach, Scar – Fullmetal Alchemist, Hisashi MitsuiSlam Dunk) and Romi Park (Hitsugaya Toushiro – Bleach, Edward Elric – Fullmetal Alchemist, Temari – Naruto).

“In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important, individuals known as Bishoku-ya, specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Our protagonist, Toriko, possesses incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom in order to fulfill his dream to capture the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. He is currently accompanied by a weak and timid chef who, inspired by Toriko's ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and find rare ingredients.”

TORIKO will be available to premium users in the following territories: U.S.A, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America (Central and South America including Caribbean).
