North American Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game World Championship Qualifier Winners Announced

OREY MCDUFFIE AND CLAYTON HILL TO REPRESENT NORTH AMERICA AT THE Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN ITALY

El Segundo, CA (July 15, 2014) – This past weekend more than 1500 of the top Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Duelists from North America gathered in Detroit, Michigan in hopes of achieving the ultimate title, that of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG North American Champion.

After two grueling days of back-and-forth Dueling, Korey McDuffie and Clayton Hill were crowned Champions at the North American World Championship Qualifier (WCQ). Hosted by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI), this premier-level event provided the opportunity for Duelists to earn the right to represent North America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship in Rimini, Italy on August 9th – 10th.

The North American WCQ showcased the expert level of play by the continent's best Duelists but it was Woodstock, Georgia's McDuffie that proved he had the best strategy and skill and, combined with a powerful Traptrix Hand Artifacts Deck, the winning combination during Sunday's Championship Round against Deon Akridge, from Macon, Georgia also playing his trusted Traptrix Hand Artifacts Deck. The victory earned McDuffie the privilege of representing North America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship as 2014 North American WCQ Champion. He won a trip to Rimini, Italy, a spectacular set of prizes that included complete sets of Legacy of the Valiant and Primal Origin, a Super Rare copy of the YCS Prize Card, Number 106: Giant Hand, a Tablet PC, a personalized Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship jersey to be awarded at the World Championship, and 18 packs each of Judgment of the Light, Shadow Specters, Legacy of the Valiant, and Primal Origin.

McDuffie will be accompanied by Akridge, Tej Trivedi, Jimmy Nquyen, Sean McCabe and Sehabi Kheireddine, the other top finishers, at the WCQ, in Italy.

Hill made his hometown of Queen Creek, Arizona proud with a spectacular win over his young peers to earn the coveted title of North American Dragon Duel Champion during the weekend's Dragon Duel tournaments (for Duelists born in 2001 or later). It was a Geargia Deck, played with great expertise by Hill that helped him defeat his opponent, to secure an invitation to the Dragon Duel World Championship on August 9th - 10th. Hill will be joined in Italy by Brandon Bird the other top Dragon Duel finisher.

In addition to winning a trip to Italy for him and a guardian, he also received an amazing prize pack including complete sets of Legacy of the Valiant and Primal Origin, a Super Rare YCS Prize Card, Number 106: Giant Hand, a Tablet PC, a personalized Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship jersey to be awarded at the World Championship, and 12 packs each of Judgment of the Light, Shadow Specters, Legacy of the Valiant, and Primal Origin.
