The One Piece Podcast Goes to Japan: Available Now, For Free

NEW YORK, NY - October 3, 2014 - The One Piece Podcast was created in 2009 and has been nominated for four consecutive years as “Best Entertainment Podcast” in The Podcast Awards. It has been a top 100-rated entertainment podcast on iTunes in the United States, Japan, China, Germany, and elsewhere. The podcast follows the most popular manga and anime series in Japan: One Piece. One Piece has been running consistently in print and on television since 1997, and is currently the most popular comic and animated series in Japan. It has spawned 11 movies, documentaries, game shows, and an unfathomable amount of merchandise.

In May 2013, The One Piece Podcast ran a successful Kickstarter, funding a trip to Japan to film a One Piece documentary like none other. It has been a long road, but the wait is over. “The One Piece Podcast Goes to Japan” features interviews with some of the biggest names in the One Piece franchise, exclusive access to One Piece and Shonen Jump events, and even the thoughts and opinions of fans from around Japan! The movie is now available to stream for free across the world exclusively at http://oppjapan.com!

The movie includes interviews with Takeru Isaka, Manga Editor for One Piece from December 2010 through August 2014. As editor, Mr. Isaka worked closely with creator Eiichiro Oda on a weekly basis and handles all matters related to the One Piece manga. As a representative of all fans, he offers Oda advice on story presentation and progression. This will be his first interview with any Western press.

The podcast also spoke with the managers of the Mugiwara Store (The "Straw Hat Store”). Open to customers in September 28 2012, the Mugiwara Store is the world's first permanent One Piece store with merchandise ranging from figures and fashion to cutlery and comic books. Its success has paved the way for limited-run versions of the store to open across Japan.

The podcast has been granted some valuable time with the minds that brought together the world's first Shonen Jump amusement park, J-World. We also spoke with One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda's high school homeroom teacher, as well as his former co-worker from the steak house “Baratei” which inspired the restaurant “Baratie” in the manga!

You will get to see everything we saw. We will give you a perspective of Japan only we at The One Piece Podcast can. Here are some of the other events we visited and reported on:

United States of Odaiba 2013 (Odaiba, Tokyo)

One Piece Baratie Restaurant (Odaiba, Tokyo)
