Comic Con After Party Recap

Thank You New York!

IA @New York Comic Con and After Party

It was an amazing four days seeing New York Comic Con attendees showing their overwhelming love and support to IA, KAGEROU PROJECT, as well as Lia who appeared with IA in her concert movie premiere at NYCC.

Although the 21+ age restriction caused many fans to miss out on the fun of the After Party held at M Lounge at MEGU New York (one the coolest Japanese spots in downtown Manhattan), there was a great turnout from the 21 and over crowd. The lounge was packed with cosplayers among other fans who were having great time dancing and drinking. After Party guests also enjoyed singing karaoke, getting Japanese manicures, and picking up T-shirts, CDs, or other merchandise they missed at 1st Place's official store on the Comic Con show floor.

M Lounge was rapidly transformed into something like MEKAKUSHI HIDING PLACE in KAGEROU DAYS or MEKAKUCITY ACTORS. With the futuristic far-eastern vibe of its architecture and interior design and its unusual atmosphere, the place gave fans the feeling that KIDO, SETO or KANO might step through the door at any moment. DJ Aki and Keilli set the tone with their fantastic music choices filled with hours of Vocaloid and J-POP songs, adding their own flavor to the music and making everyone dance like they never wanted the night to end. And no one could disagree that Chrisy was the life of the party! Even fully dressed in the IA costume, she put all of her energy into IA's steps. She danced a little harder than the computer generated IA would have, but the crowd followed her moves and dance battled, even making Soul Train dance lines to compete against each other.

In the back corner, right next to the merch booth, guests were lining up and shouting into the microphone for the iPad-based karaoke station presented by Anime Karaoke Ma'Star, the creator of the smash hit iPhone apps. Once they put on the headsets, singers were totally in their own musical world and were enthusiastically singing their favorite anime songs, J-POP, and the newly added IA and vocaloid tracks.

The nail artist ASAMI had a small booth for character nail art, something that has become quite popular among young Japanese ladies over the years. She offered quick manicures to the party attendees who exclaimed that her one-of-a-kind nail art was “so cute!”

With all the activities, the four hour bash went by so fast, especially with Mizunomai Shochu pouring smooth Japanese spirits for Super Week participants and fueling the attendees with their top of the line original flavors.

For those who missed this awesome After Party, don't worry! Another one will be coming up this holiday season with general admission, and for people 20 and under, light meals and drinks will be served. Guests will have the chance to watch never-before-seen anime trailers, hot Japanese music videos, and more!
