Two Attack on Titan books headline new additions to Kodansha's 2015 list



New York, New York (January 14, 2015) – In an event at Kinokuniya Bookstore today, Kodansha Comics announced three new series and five new standalone titles set to release in the second half of 2015.

The Science of Attack on Titan - Who would win in a fight between a Titan and Ultraman? How were the Walls built? Seeing as Titans never eat or drink, are they surviving through photosynthesis? Author Rikao Yanagita walks us through the “science” of the most popular manga and anime series in the world. Summer 2015.

In the follow-up to the gigantically successful first volume, Attack on Titan Colossal Edition Volume 2 collects volumes 6 to 10 of the hit series. At nearly 1,000 pages long and measuring 10-1/2 inches tall by 7 inches wide, the massive compendium will weigh five pounds. Read Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan as it was meant to be seen in November 2015.

The anime for Maria the Virgin Witch debuted on FUNimation on January 11, and Kodansha will release the first volume of the three-volume manga series by Masayuki Ishikawa on February 24. We're pleased to announce that the sequel volume, Maria the Virgin Witch Exhibition, will release in August, two months after the third volume.

From Jinsei Kataoka, artist of the hit manga Deadman Wonderland, and writer Tomohiro Maekawa comes Livingstone. Two men search for people who are about to die before their time. Their goal is to save these people if they can, or, if they can't, to retrieve their livingstones – their souls – before something else can get them.

Die Wergelder is by Hiroaki Samura, famed creator of Blade of the Immortal. Wergeld is a German word describing the debt owed by killers. This is the story of three killers, all women, and their battles over debts unpaid. Fall 2015.

Appleseed: Alpha is an adaptation of the anime prequel to the Shirow Masamune's classic epic, Appleseed. Iou Kuroda tells the story of Deunan's and Briareos's early adventures. Fall 2015.

Who are the most interesting members of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail? The women, of course. BOKU tells the story of the female members of the Fairy Tail guild in Fairy Girls. Fairy Girls is due in later 2015 and joins another spinoff title, Fairy Tail Blue Mistral, due out in August.

Kae is a normal, everyday high school girl with a secret – she's a fujoshi, a fan of yaoi manga, who has fantasies about the boys in her school making out with each other. When the death of her favorite character causes stress-induced rapid weight loss, she becomes the object of those same boys' affections. What can she do when she'd rather they kissed each other instead of her? Junko's Kiss Him, Not Me debuts in fall 2015.
