ORIGINAL JAPANESE-LANGUAGE VERSION OF Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters
STREAMING (WITH SUBTITLES) ON CRUNCHYROLL

Yu-Gi-Oh! Crunchyroll Debut announced duringComic-Con International: San Diego Panel

SAN DIEGO, CA July 11, 2015 – 4K Media Inc., the Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. subsidiary that manages the licensing and marketing of the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand, is making the original Japanese-language version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters available for the first time outside of Japan on Crunchyroll, a leading global destination and platform for Japanese anime. It's time to duel, the beginning of season one is available now, with additional episodes released on a monthly schedule.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters is a card-battling game in which players put different mystical creatures against one another in creative and strategic duels! Packed with awesome monsters and mighty spell cards, Yugi and his best buds Joey, Tristan and Téa are totally obsessed with the game. But there's more to this card game than meets the eye! Legend has it five thousand years ago, ancient Egyptian Pharaohs used to play a magical game very similar to Duel Monsters. This ancient game involved magical ceremonies, which were used to foresee the future and ultimately decide one's destiny. They called it the Shadow Games. Since the game used so many magical spells and ferocious creatures, it wasn't long before the game got out of hand and threatened to destroy the world. Fortunately, a brave Pharaoh stepped in and averted this cataclysm. Giant monsters! Powerful magic! And ancient Egyptian legends! The official Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters subtitled version was produced by Nihon Ad Systems.

“There's a special magic that comes across with the original language version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, augmented with English subtitles, that can't be explained,” added Mark Kirk, SVP, Digital, for 4K Media. “Yu-Gi-Oh! and anime fans alike will be flocking to Crunchyroll to see the original version, which is available for the first time on the platform, and we're excited to be able to make it happen.”

“Following our announcement earlier this month of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX becoming available, we're excited to also make these pivotal episodes for the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise available to Crunchyroll users,” said Patrick Macias, editor-in-chief for Crunchyroll. “Crunchyroll's release for Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's has been very successful and it's exciting to not only offer the program which served as the impetus for this global phenomenon but to also have it launched here at San Diego Comic-Con.”
