SaikouCon Finds New Home in Split Rock Resort
SaikouCon 2016 Also Opens Guest, Artist Alley, and Vendor Registrations
1/12/16 Lake Harmony, PA – SaikouCon, which means "best convention", is the large scale, annual anime convention of the Pocono Mountains. Boasting a dedicated staff of longtime Japanese anime and manga fans, SaikouCon is excited to be the only large scale annual convention dedicated exclusively to anime, manga, and Japanese culture and pop culture in this area of Northeast Pennsylvania. The convention grew out of the now defunct web magazine Anime Ate My Brain Magazine; the sibling to music focused web magazine, Tastes Like Rock! Music Magazine. Both journalistic endeavors fall under the publishing wing of Nerdy Rock 'n Roller Productions.
The convention promises to remain very hands on and attendee friendly every year, while also maintaining a safe atmosphere for attendees to enjoy the convention to their carefree fullest. As always, Cosplay =/= Consent is a very important issue to the staff of SaikouCon, and the same rules and regulations that made SaikouCon 2013, 2014, and 2015 each a safe haven for cosplayers will be enforced just as strictly at SaikouCon 2016. SaikouCon 2016 will feature many diverse and entertaining panels, workshops, activities, events, screenings, gaming tournaments, and much more!
SaikouCon's Con Chair, Michael Meade, released the following statement via the convention Facebook page: "We're baaaacck! SaikouCon 2016 is officially booked to happen August 26-28 2016 at the Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony PA! We are sad to leave the Lehigh Valley, but there just isn't anywhere big enough for us to call home that wants to work with us. Split Rock Resort has thrown open their arms to us and is letting us take over their 45,000 square foot Sports Complex within the Galleria at Split Rock! Guest Registration is now open at www.saikoucon.com/guest-registration.html and Merchant Registrations will be open this Monday, January 11 at 12 PM ET! Please note the minor changes to both and review the details before registering. Check out the Convention Info page for more details on Split Rock and our room block which is open to reserve now, but you must call the resort to reserve your room, they don't book special rates for events like ours through their website; room block is open until July 1, 2016 so do not wait!!
Split Rock Resort is located at 100 Moseywood Road, Lake Harmony, PA 18624, a mere five miles from the Lake Harmony exit off the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Split Rock Resort is a full service resort offering SaikouCon its 45,000 square foot Sports Complex inside the Galleria at Split Rock, this is not including meeting rooms for Panels and activities. The Sports Complex will be used for the SaikouCon Vendor Hall, Artist Alley, and events like our Friday Night Concert, Cosplay Contest, Cosplay Concert, and Charity Auction! Plus onsite food and drink at the Split Rock Grille and Lake View Tavern along with drinks and treats at Rock Lounge, Thirsty Moose Saloon, and H2O Island Oasis! Our 2016 location is seriously upping SaikouCon's game for our fourth year, and to top it all off, Split Rock is giving an exclusive 15% off food and non-alcoholic drink to ALL SaikouCon 2016 Badge Holders!!! Merchant registrations opened on January 11, 2016 and will remain open until July 1, 2016 or until both the Merchant Hall and Artist Alley are both sold out; whichever comes first. Spaces are primed to sell as fast as the record sale times set for the convention in 2015, so don't wait too long if you wish to sell at SaikouCon 2016!
