SaikouCon Welcomes Voice Actor Robert Axelrod as Guest of Honor for SaikouCon 2016

Convention also books NEPA musician Damien for special acoustic performance at 2016 Opening Ceremonies

4/11/16 Lake Harmony, PA – SaikouCon, which means "best convention", is the large scale, annual anime convention of the Pocono Mountains. Boasting a dedicated staff of longtime Japanese anime and manga fans, SaikouCon is excited to be the only large scale annual convention dedicated exclusively to anime, manga, and Japanese culture and pop culture in this area of Northeast Pennsylvania. The convention grew out of web magazine Anime Ate My Brain Magazine; the sibling to music focused web magazine, Tastes Like Rock! Music Magazine. Both journalistic endeavors fall under the publishing wing of Nerdy Rock 'n Roller Productions.

The convention promises to remain very hands on and attendee friendly every year, while also maintaining a safe atmosphere for attendees to enjoy the convention to their carefree fullest. As always, Cosplay =/= Consent is a very important issue to the staff of SaikouCon, and the same rules and regulations that made SaikouCon 2013, 2014, and 2015 safe havens for cosplayers will be enforced just as strictly at SaikouCon 2016. SaikouCon 2016 will feature many diverse and entertaining panels, workshops, activities, events, screenings, gaming tournaments, and much more!

SaikouCon is honored to have the legendary voice of Lord Zedd from the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers as a Guest of Honor at the convention's 2016 show! This Robert Axelrod's forst appearance at SaikouCon, the Los Angeles based actor also has a long list of voice work in several English dubs of anime series and films including Robotech, The Big O, Cowboy Bebop, Digimon, Akira, Fist of the North Star, Captain Harlock, among many others! Born and raised in New York City, he did commercials and theater as a child and teen, eventually ending up in the Soho Avant-garde Theater scene in a show called “Little Trips”, then Off-Broadway in a play called “The Destroyers”. Axelrod left acting for the world of music. He spent eight years as a working rock musician playing electric bass and singing in folk, rock, and soul bands. Music brought him to Los Angeles where he decided to return to acting, a decision he never regrets.

Since then, Mr. Axelrod has appeared in over thirty feature films including four with Charles Bronson, the Sci-Fi hit remake “The Blob” with Kevin Dillon and many others. Television appearances include guest star roles on “Amazing Stories”, “Star Trek Voyager”, “Tim And Eric's Awesome Show”, and “The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers". He also starred in the Michael Jackson music video “Stranger in Moscow”, and is in the soon-to-be-released horror dark comedy, “The Revenant”. As Lord Zedd, he starred in both the first Power Rangers feature film and the wildly popular live show that toured the country. He was a regular character on Saban Entertainment's “Wowser” series (as Ratso Catso), “Journey To The Heart of the World” (as Scarface), “Hallo Spencer” (as Elmer), and more.

Joining the Musical Guests for SaikouCon 2016 is Northeastern/Central PA musician, Damien! Damien has performed at many venues and events throughout North East and Central Pennsylvania, Damien is an eclectic acoustic instrumental guitarist mixing, classical, jazz, and modern styles, to weave a tapestry of sonic magick. Damien has been a long time supporter of SaikouCon, acting as a security officier for the convention and many other roles in the past, it is an honor for the convention to now have him as one of its musical guests. Damien will be performing a special acoustic concert as part of the convention's Opening Ceremonies on SaikouCon Friday!
