Taipei Game Show 2017 Takes Place Next January

Indie Game Festa Calls for Worldwide Independent Game Developers

Taipei, TW-Taipei Game Shaw has officially announced to take place next year from January 19 to 24 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. The show will begin with "B2B Zone" and "Asia Pacific Game Summit" (January 19-20), and followed by "B2C Area" that opens to the general public (January 20-24). "B2C Area" is a 5-day event displaying console games, mobile games and online games. Further, the hit virtual reality games and e-sport tournaments will also be seen in the show. With the past success, Taipei Game Show 2017 is expected to attract more visitors than ever before.

Taiwan has always been a major gaming market in the world. In 2015, Taiwan took over Germany as the 4th top country by revenue on Google Play, and rises from 12th to 10th in the iOS market. This shows that, despite its relatively small population, the market potential in Taiwan should not be underestimated. According to market research firm App Annie, Taiwan smartphone penetration rate reaches 78% and has high acceptance to foreign cultures. Thus, it is much easier for foreign games to succeed in Taiwan market, compared to other Asia markets like China, Japan, and South Korea. Last but not least, App Annie even predicts that Taiwan will be the next billion-dollar market.

Three Major Events: B2B, B2C and APGS Starts Jointly
Taipei Game Show 2016 reached a new peak for "B2B Zone" scale, featuring a total of 221 companies. The two-day trade show attracted 1,582 professional buyers from 22 countries, most of which came from Japan and Southeast Asia, then Europe and America. To facilitate even more business opportunities, Taipei Game Show will continue to expand "B2B Zone" scale next year, inviting international developers, publishers, operators, monetization and advertisement companies, etc. to attend the show. Meanwhile, "Indie Game Festa" will take place at the same time with "B2B Zone" from January 19 to 20, 2017. With the previous attendance of 130 teams from 22 countries in 2016, "Indie Game Festa" calls for global independent game developers to participate in next year event, in aim to discover more excellent teams.

"Asia Pacific Game Summit (APGS)" is a conference covers a wide variety of themes from development, marketing, operation, venture and etc. In 2016, 50 comprehensive sessions were delivered, among which many keynote speakers were invited to share industry insight, marketing strategies, and development experience to the audience. For next year, "APGS" is to be held on January 19-20, 2017. Special warm-up sessions focusing on the Southeast Asia and Taiwan game markets will be held in Tokyo and Taipei relatively on this September in advance.

"B2C Area" focuses on general public and will be on January 20 – 24, 2017. In 2016, "B2C Area" broke its record by 430,000 public visits, and up to 1,700 exhibition booths used. The exhibition covers multiplatform games (TV game, online game, mobile game), virtual reality games, e-sports peripherals and so on. Besides, activities such as e-sport tournaments with the presence of international teams and live streaming broadcasting to worldwide audience are yet another highlight in the show.

Taipei Game Show is a comprehensive gaming exhibition with both "B2B Area" (for trade visitors) and "B2C Zone" (for general public). It serves as not only the hub of Northeast and Southeast Asia but also the gateway to Chinese-speaking market. Thus, it has become an essential platform for industry networking and license trading, as well as the integrated community for bringing the latest trend and entertaining experience to massive gamers.
