Cygames Announces NA and EU Qualifiers for the Shadowverse World Grand Prix

Enter to win a trip to Tokyo and a chance to play for a USD 120,000 prize pool!

Tokyo – October 4, 2017 – Cygames has announced that the qualifying rounds for NGE's Shadowverse Open Starforged Legends season will also serve as a one-off qualifying tournament to determine who will go to Tokyo to compete with the best Shadowverse players in the world for a prize pool of $120,000. North America players can enter the World Grand Prix NA Contenders Cup, and European players can enter the World Grand Prix EU Contenders Cup, and the top three players from each region will win a free trip to Tokyo and a guaranteed cash prize in the RAGE Shadowverse World Grand Prix.

The RAGE Shadowverse World Grand Prix is an invitational tournament to determine the best Shadowverse player in the world, which will take place in Tokyo on December 23 and 24. Twenty-four players from all over the world will be invited to take part in the tournament, which will award prizes totaling $120,000 with a guaranteed $1,000 for every player who takes part. Europe and North America will provide 3 players apiece, as will Korea and Taiwan, while Japan, the home of Shadowverse, will provide 12 players, for a competition that promises to deliver a thrilling clash of cultures and playing styles.

Qualifying rounds for the World Grand Prix NA Contenders Cup and World Grand Prix EU Contenders Cup will take place over three weeks, from October 7 until October 22. The top 6-placed players from these qualifying rounds will join the top 6 contestants from NGE Shadowverse Season 2 in a one-off qualifying tournament for each region that will take place on Saturday October 28 (EU) and Sunday October 29 (NA). All of the qualifying rounds and the qualifying tournaments themselves will be streamed live on twitch.tv/nge from the NGE Studios in Burbank, California, with videos being made available on YouTube after the shows are broadcast.

The qualifying rounds for the World Grand Prix Contenders Cups will also serve as the qualifying rounds for the Starforged Legends Shadowverse Open – the third season of NGE's official Shadowverse esports leagues, aimed at North American and European gamers. After the success of the first two seasons, the NA Shadowverse Open Starforged Legends season and the EU Shadowverse Open Starforged Legends season are both timed to coincide with the recently released Starforged Legends card expansion, which added new constellations of playing styles to the ever-evolving multiplayer metagame at the heart of the Shadowverse experience.
