The List
7 Devilish Angels

by Lynzee Loveridge,

If Lucifer's fall from grace is any indication, being born holy isn't always an indicator of purity. This week's list proves that it isn't the wings that make the angel. These characters are right at home with their demon cousins and more than comfortable inflicting some human suffering.

7. Finn Fish (Phantom Thief Jeanne) Finn has the appearance of a traditional magical girl mascot. She's cutesy, pocket-sized and grants Maron the powers to turn into Phantom Thief Jeanne. She even claims to be on a holy mission sent by none other than God himself to ensure Maron succeeds in collecting chess pieces hidden in works of art. Imagine Maron's shock when she realizes the entire set-up is a farce and Finn is actually a fallen angel working for the devil. This is, however, a magical girl show, and Finn's loyalty to her evil overlord can quickly be undone with a little love and friendship.

6. Dokuro Mitsukai (Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan) When it comes to stopping a lolicon from turning the future into a world full of 12-year-olds, Dokuro is the angel for the job. God is determined to snuff out Sakura Kusakabe, the future inventor of technology that will stop human aging. He sends Dokuro, an angel who thinks she can prevent this pre-pubescent future without killing Sakura. Unfortunately for him, Dokuro's spiked baseball isn't just for show and he ends up on the receiving end every time she has a temper tantrum. Is it more cruel to be resurrected after each bludgeoning only to experience it again?

5. Panty & Stocking (Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) Panty and her sister Stocking both fall pretty far from the Biblical idea of an "angel." The duo are more interested in indulging in their own vices. Panty is obsessed with sex and Stocking is always looking for her next sweet meal. Between the two of them, its miraculous that they defeat any ghosts or demons. They have more than their fair share of close calls in their battles with their demonic counterparts, Scanty and Kneesocks. This could be relegated to the Anarchy sisters' chaotic nature compared to the demon sister's love of structure and rules.

4. Krad (D.N.Angel) Krad is a single-minded angel-like being whose sole goal is to defeat Dark, his counterpart that resides inside the body of Daisuke. Krad is particularly cruel, even to his host Satoshi. Whenever he calls forth his wings, it causes Satoshi immense pain. His pursuit of Dark has also led to a number of close calls for Daisuke where Krad has attempted to outright kill him. Despite his stereotypical white wings compared to Dark's black wings, Krad is bad news through and through.

3. Michael (Maria the Virgin Witch) There's a popular quote by Thomas Burke that says "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." This is one of the main frustrations felt by Maria in regards to Michael, a very powerful angel and agent of God. Despite his awareness of the deaths caused by the ongoing war and human suffering from disease, Michael does nothing. In fact, he's more concerned that Maria is interfering in an attempt to stop the fighting. In all of his appearances, Michael seems completely indifferent to plight of his devoted followers.

2. Kaworu (Neon Genesis Evangelion) All of the angels in Neon Genesis Evangelion could qualify for this list, at least in respect with how they treat humanity. Kaworu might even seem like a lesser choice, given how outwardly aggressive the other attacking angels are. Kaworu's kindness has a nefarious side, though. By showing Shinji unequivocal positive attention, his true intentions to break into NERV and retrieve Adam strikes an even harder blow to the boy's psyche. In the end, Shinji must dispatch someone who claimed to love him and he thought of as a true friend, leaving him alone again.

1. Shadow Angels (Aquarion) The Shadow Angels of the Aquarion series have much in common with humans; they can feel emotions and care about their brethren. The differences stop there, as these supernatural beings harbor deep disdain for the human race and consider them nothing more than mindless cattle. They slaughter them without consideration. The head of the Shadow Angels in Johannes, a masked figure who presides over the other deadly Angels.
