I feel like they need to suck it up and explore this era of the UC timeline with a proper anime. F91 is not one of my favorite Gundam movies, but I also think that for the UC timeline to proceed in any functional capacity in the future, they really need to re-evaluate some things. Hathaway is fine, it's enjoyable to look at and more UC timeline Gundam is always welcome, but F91, Crossbone and Victory all have some serious potential to be new and scary and different...... and I cant help but feel like Hathaway is the overly-"safe" way to put out Gundam content. Sans the fact that Mafty might be in a moral/ethical grey area.

I lament that aside from the brilliance of Unicorn near-singlehandedly keeping the UC timeline interesting in recent years, pushing past it could provide a foundation for some really exciting new stories.

In 2018 Sunrise announced a "UC NexT 0100" project that was all about covering the future of UC for the next 100 years. That included projects like the Gundam NT movie (set in UC 0097) and Hathaway.

It seems like COVID delayed a bunch of stuff though, especially Hathaway's sequels.

I believe the brand also applied to things outside of anime, including side stories and mobile game tie-ins, although I forget if F90 FF was part of that. It seemed fairly arbitrary.

There was also that panel (again, 2018) which outlined future projects and infamously "leaked" a Gundam UC2 "overseas drama" project, slotting it in at UC 0104. But, that was shown as being scheduled for 2022. It's possible it never even got greenlit to begin with - we don't really know.
