Shadow of the Colossus PS4 Game is Remake Not Remaster
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Sony Worldwide Studios president Shūhei Yoshida clarified in an interview with Kadokawa's video game news outlet Famitsu on Wednesday that the newly announced Shadow of the Colossus game for PlayStation 4 will be a remake, not a remaster of the original game. "The game content is the same as the original version, but all the assets are being remade," Yoshida said.
Yoshida also noted that, because user preferences on game systems change over time, there are plans to include more more modern play systems. He added, "Of course you can also play with a feel of the original version, but what we're doing is showing how great the original work is, using today's technology."
Sony unveiled the new Shadow of the Colossus game at E3 on Monday. Bluepoint, the company that handled the 2011 remaster, is also developing the PlayStation 4 remake.
Fumito Ueda's original Shadow of the Colossus game launched for PlayStation 2 in 2005. The game got a re-release on the PlayStation 3 alongside Ueda's previous game ICO in September 2011.
