Um, yeah... risking life and death, and ruling all Japan, centered in a culture of air-skating. This required a little more suspension of belief than I'm capable of. :-\ (Yu gi oh! 's premise was easier to swallow...) There was some genuinely funny stuff (and a LOT of ecchi stuff, which is not my thing [unless it's knowingly over-the-top as "Desert Punk" was] ); but here and there was enough to make me want to see _how_ they would get to the inevitable, predictable conclusion. I'm glad I watched this via Netflix, so all I wasted was my time ;) |

As I was watching it, I kept thinking it should have been titled "Ceres, Celestial Soap Opera". But it had a fairly entertaining premise/storyline, and was actually kind of enjoyable. The SD/"comedic" parts were a little irritating for me - I felt like they didn't fit and were an annoying distraction. Like quite a few older titles, subbed is definitely the way to go on this one. |

This IS a masterpiece, in spite of a few somewhat unappealing character designs. The pacing is masterful, allowing the story to unfold in it's own time, but not so slowly that I lost interest at any point. I was usually very surprised when the ending credits came on! The story itself is rich and detailed, and the characters beautifully developed. Avoid the dub at all costs - I sometimes enjoy dubs, but this is very poorly acted; enough so that it actually changes the feel and tone of the entire series (and that is just from seeing the dub for first 2 episodes) Be sure to watch the special ending in the extras on the last disc! |

I waited for the library to get all the discs and checked them out all at once, so I could watch in broadcast order. I'm glad I did - I definitely think I would have enjoyed it somewhat less in chronological order. |
