BandorKitty's Anime

A list of anime that has found a special place in my heart…. and because a Top 10 would be too hard to make.

All Time Favourites Rating Comment
Angel Beats! (TV) Excellent Geez, this series knows how to make you do a 180 degree mood swing. One minute, you're laughing at all the crazy deaths of the characters (who don't actually die, they are already dead) and the next, you're watching in horror at how they or people around them really died. I wish it was longer like they originally planned, but I just have to deal with it for now.
anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (TV) Masterpiece
Attack on Titan (TV) Excellent (dub & sub) I need to kick myself for watching this. I also need to kick my friends for recommending this to me, during exam week no less! I ran through the entire series in about 5 days when I could have been studying for my exams. I still passed but I could have done a lot better, if only the titans had breached the walls a week later. I guess something good came out of it too. I now own both parts of the series on blu-ray limited edition.
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Very good A lot of the time, I impersonate Osaka to annoy my brother. Its so fun.
Black Rock Shooter (TV) Good I found this through Vocaloid. I loved the song before I knew it was an anime.
A Certain Scientific Railgun (TV) Excellent Mikoto Misaka. One of the best heroines hands down. I just love characters who are outrageously strong but don't brag about it or use their power to get or do whatever they want. It goes to show that hard work will always get you somewhere.
A Certain Scientific Railgun S (TV) Excellent The Sister's arc is possibly the best thing to come out of this franchise. Besides Misaka, of course, but the Sister's arc introduces us to nearly 10 000 Misakas (or an expanded retelling if you watched Index first, like me). Love their speech patterns.
Clannad (TV) Excellent Clannad is the first anime in a long time that made me laugh out loud while watching. My brother would often come out of his room and sigh. "What are you laughing at now?" he would ask. I need to sit him down and get him to watch it one day.
Clannad After Story (TV) Masterpiece Beautiful. Just beautiful. An amazing piece of work.
(The) Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (movie) Excellent I had read the light novel before seeing this movie, and I loved it. I loved it before I watched it because I knew it would be a good movie. I even did a speech about this movie for school, and got a good mark for it, even though the teacher didn't know what I was talking about most of the time. I had to compare the book and the movie, and say which had a stronger impact on me, and I chose the scene where Kyon has an internal monologue and interrogation with himself about the two worlds and which Nagato he prefers, just before he is stabbed. It was a lot of fun, analysing the scene and trying to explain it so that the teacher could understand it.
K-ON! (TV) Very good (dub & sub) When I first heard about this series, I only heard the name and how popular it was. I brushed it off, thinking it was just a fighting show, as the title sounded something like that and I'm not into fighting that much. That is... until I found I saw a trailer for it on one of my DVDs and found out it was about music! One of my favourite things! Of course, I instantly watched it, fell in love and bought the first season, then the movie when it came out. I want to buy the second season too but its really expensive. Sigh...
K-ON! (movie) Very good (dub), Excellent (sub)
Kill la Kill (TV) Excellent You've just gotta love Mako. Best comic relief character ever!
Little Busters! (TV) Excellent So much happiness, so much fun, a few depressing bits here and there. I really connected with the characters, and loved each and every one of them. That might have contributed to my reaction to the second season.
Little Busters! Refrain (TV) Masterpiece The first season was happy, fun with hints of mystery. This season was depressing, heartbreaking with a lot of mystery until the big reveal in episode 10 and 11. Once the credits rolled at 11, I sat there crying for at least half an hour and I forced my brother to give me a hug. That is how depressed I was. I didn't want to watch the last 2 episodes, but I'm glad I did. I rarely cry watching something, and this made me bawl like a baby. Anything that can make me react that way must be good.
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (TV) Excellent What's more awesome than watching epic magic fight scenes, then cutting straight to reality where the fighters are rolling around on the floor hitting each other with brooms? Or when magic seems to happen in reality, but it actually was just someone in the background flipping a switch at the right moment, or dropping a bag of flour? This series was a great watch, I can't wait until the dub comes out.
Lucky Star (TV) Very good I'm pretty sure that Lucky Star was one of the first, if not the first, anime I ever watched outside of the americanised children's anime on tv. Even though I didn't get most of the references I later watched a lot of anime and thought to myself, "Wow. Now I get it!"
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Excellent Once I got past the first few "sexual harassment" episodes, I found that I loved this series so much. Crispin Freeman is the perfect Kyon. It just has to be said. Another part I love about this series is the many abridged series that people have made. I have quite a few favourites.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie) Masterpiece
Nichijou - My Ordinary Life (TV) Excellent I found Nichijou through an amazing crossover with Madoka characters and the Nichijou opening on YouTube. The song was so catchy and I instantly wanted to watch it, and I wasn't disappointed. This is one of the few shows that has made me laugh every episode, possibly once per minute in some episodes. The humour is really good and when someone asked me to show them an anime so they could see what it was all about, I showed them snippets of this. They were not disappointed either.
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Very good
Pokémon 2000 - The Movie (movie 2) Good
Pokémon 3 - The Movie (movie 3) Good
Pokémon Heroes - Latias & Latios (movie 5) Good LATIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea (movie 9) Good
Pokémon Zoroark: Master of Illusions (movie 13) Very good
Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life (movie 12) Good
Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew (movie 8) Good Two of my favourite Pokemon in one movie. What more could I ask for? Even though one of them dies… :(
Pokémon: The First Movie (movie 1) Very good The first Pokemon movie. Enough said. Pokemon is my childhood, the time I spent with my cousins, how I made the friends I have today, the majority of my DS games, probably the first video game I ever played, and a lot of other stuff too.
Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai (movie 10) Good
Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (movie) Excellent Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo, fishie in the sea. Tiny little fishie, who could you really be? Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo, magic set you free. Oh, she's a little girl with a round tummy.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV) Excellent (dub), Masterpiece (sub) This is Madoka! Considered to be one of the best anime from recent years. Famous for leading the viewer into thinking its a happy show, then dropping multiple huge bombs throughout the series. When this showed on ABC3 in January 2013, I was like, "Yeah! Another anime for me to watch!" Then I found out it was only a preview and the series didn't start actually airing until later in the year. I couldn't wait, so I ordered the DVDs and read the manga, and cried. Then when my DVDs FINALLY arrived about 2 months later, I cried. Then when the show actually started airing, I cried. Then I found Meduka Meguca and laughed. I love this series so much. By Meduka Meguca I mean the "being meduka is suffering" one and the abridged series by Mahou Troupe, which contains quite a few laughs, cause "I f***ing loooooooove Madoka Magicaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings Masterpiece (dub & sub) I don't know how many times I have watched this. Its amazing.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 2: Eternal Masterpiece (dub & sub) Same with Part 1, I lost count of how many times I have watched this movie. Finally got it on pre-order with an English dub included. Can't wait to check it out in about a month.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion Masterpiece This is probably the item I am most proud of in my collection. I have been following the development of this movie since I found out about it, seen all the trailers, tried my hardest to avoid spoilers, and finally it was announced that it would be showing in a cinema close to me. By close, I mean a 6 hour drive. Just my luck that it was only a couple of days after my birthday, and my parents took me and two of my friends down to see it. If it wasn't for my birthday, I don't think I would have seen it or owned a limited collectors edition Blu-ray version of the movie three months later. Hurray for my birthday! I can't wait until it gets dubbed. Or even better, a new season or movie.
Soul Eater (TV) Excellent A lot of my favourite anime moments come from Soul Eater. I own the whole series on DVD and when I first got my hands on them, I watched all the episodes in less than 2 days. There are too many awesome, funny, weird or ??? scenes to list so I'm just going to end this here.
Spirited Away (movie) Masterpiece (dub & sub) My favourite Hayao Miyazaki movie. It definitely has a magical quality about it and I love the transformation of Chihiro from spoilt child to strong individual.
Squid Girl (TV) Decent (dub), Very good (sub) This series is just soooooo cute! Nothing says cute like a cute little squid girl who wants to take over the world and make mankind pay but fails miserably because she has such a good heart.
WATAMOTE (TV) Very good (dub & sub) You can't say that the opening sequence is not epic. It's a masterpiece, especially in one episode where the opening just transitions in with what is happening during the scene before. About the actual anime, it hit close to home many times. I have been through many phases in my life where I felt just like Tomoko, where I didn't feel accepted by my peers. I spent many years alone until I found the friends I have now, and my life has been great ever since.
When They Cry - Higurashi (TV) Excellent This is one of the first series I have ever watched where I have been seriously creeped out. It certainly deserves to be in the horror genre. If you don't know what you're up against, then don't, I repeat, DON'T, watch it alone at night.
When They Cry - Kai (TV) Excellent That opening song almost made me cry when I first heard it and read the subs along with it. The chorus is so beautiful… I can't stop listening to it, and every time I listen I get that feeling in my stomach again. I can't stop playing it on the piano either.
Whisper of the Heart (movie) Excellent Country roads… Take me home…. To the place…. I belong...
Wolf Children (movie) Masterpiece
Wolf's Rain (TV) Excellent
Wolf's Rain (OAV) Excellent Lots of tears. Just, lots of them. Enough said.
Your Lie in April (TV) Masterpiece
