Otaku rating system:
If there even is fanservice it's completly negligible, otaku specific things are not present or if present would be invisible to western or beginer anime audience. Target audience is very broad. Unexperienced viewer might find himself confused at times, or if the anime is great, he may find himself introduced to some of the anime-specific or japan-specific events, character types, mentality or even some type of fanservice. Target audience is broad. This anime is still a great recomendation for westerners.
This is dancing somehwere in between, in some ways it's still reccomendable to non anime fans. Non anime fans would likely miss the point of some specific jokes, tropes, personality types and scenes, but would still be able to enjoy the anime as a whole, likely with slightly diminished experience. Watching this without beeing an experienced anime fan is either not reccomended, or one would simply miss out on much of the enjoyment and even find the events and characters confusing or cliche. This is the stuff you'll usually only reccomend to fans of the genre becasue the target audience is not too big. This category can include stuf like ecchi fanservice and a lot of anime genre specific tropes and character (stereo)types. Closed minded non anime watching westerners would freak out so hard seeing this, that they'd probably make a facebook group dedicated to hating this. Events or characters or tropes used here are very narrowly targeted, sometimes even a parody of their own sterotypes. Fanservice is either "strange" or abundant or weird or strangely specific. Before trying to watch this, I suggest either seeing 100 other anime shows, or being slightly crazy and open minded in the same time, becasue this anime is targeted directly at the otaku subculture and more often than not, at the specific branch of the otaku subculture.* Clicking on the Otaku Rating icon will automatically scroll back up to this definition list.
