Both OVAs really need to be viewed together. I really liked the ending and the conflict Pavo had to face, realizing who she was at the end was great. Yakumo's struggle to come to terms with his new reality was also really done well. He really had to come to grips with the fact he'd never be able to be a part of society again, good stuff all around. |

Had a good plot and really was going somewhere up until the very end. I haven't read the manga, and maybe it's just me but I felt it was way too ham-fisted to have Keiichi and Belldandy effortlessly pass through the gate of destiny. I was hoping for Celestine to have been right about it being rigged and making the conflict of the movie far more bitter and morally ambiguous. Of course that'd probably have messed up the manga, which I never read. |

Typical Kiddie show. Has some interesting personal conflicts going on but the whole thing gets watered down by going after a younger audience. I also thought that Hikaru's magical recoveries during certain parts of the anime were poorly executed. They had her get up magically just because they wanted to, disregarding explaining the entire concept of how she'd be able to do that at all. I guess it's an okay show, for kids. |

Another classic, it's kind of hammy at times but I liked the overall execution enough. The subtext of Ross becoming more and more machine as time passed was also brilliant and I liked how they made the characters vulnerable. Not even Armitage was an unstoppable super hero. |

I really enjoyed Berserk, even after comparing it to the manga it did pretty well given the constraints that it had. In fact, my only real issue with the anime was that they had revealed the true nature of the world before the eclipse. I'd have preferred it if Zod and other supernatural characters were only vaguely hinted at beforehand, and then suddenly the eclipse could've happened and totally shocked everyone. Still, sadly it ends too soon, but at the rate the Manga gets published who can say if Berserk will ever see an end before the Mangaka dies? |

Overall an okay series. The dubbing was pretty bland and I wished that they'd been able to inject some more emotion (dramatic and comedic) into the series, but it still had a nice buildup. It shows how many young lives can get swept up in the fury of galactic conflict and how it affects everyone, even those of high rank or nobility. |

iffy Shonen anime series. I felt that the series wasn't really well developed though. The entire plot regarding "Eldel Reids" and humans (their "pleasures.") was just entirely too obvious a euphemism for sex and how women are viewed in society. So the entire series came off as too preachy and goody-goody for my tastes. Still, fighting and explosions were nice, but there was no real depth to it. |

Without a doubt one of the best anime in existence. Elfen lied epitomizes the style that is anime. It tells a story and pulls no punches in doing so. There's violence, blood, gore, nudity and even a little light foreplay on one scene, but none of it feels out of place. It all fits within the confines of telling the story. It can be comedic, dramatic and horribly tragic and the characters feel like you can connect to them (With the exception of the incestuous cousin...but that's a Japan thing I guess.)
The only thing stopping it from being perfect was it was so tragicly short and so apparently not over by the end of episode 13. Oh why, why did it have to stop?! ;_; |

I really liked this, it starts off being a bit slow and disjointed but eventually the pace picks up. I did wish they had taken more time to explain the situation at the start but I suppose that'd have revealed some secrets too early that hinged on the audience going "WTF is up." I do wish it was longer though, the ending leaves me wondering if a new conflict is looming over the world. |

I loved FY, and bag on me all you want it was a great anime. Now admitedly it had a lot of Shoujo style unrealistic romance, but in this case it fit! Tamahome is a fictional character, so him not acting and behaving like a real man actually is perfectly sensible and him falling in love with miaka is reduced down to a mere function the book has. I also liked the continuation of the story about what happened afterwards. I only wish that the whole story behind the book's purpose and creation was actually revealed. |

So much better than the movie it's scary. The characters are real, the world is gritty and it's an intelligent and cerebral police drama that's also not short on the action either. Political subplots are great too. I kind of wish it were longer but at least when they end a story, they really do end the story. So credit is deserved for that.

Altogether an okay older comedy anime. I just really wish that they'd actually had some more real fighting in the entire thing. Captain Tylor just seemed to get off randomly on entirely his own luck and charm. He never once had to really make any hard decisions until the OVAs and even then there were barely any real shots traded. I felt a bit left down by the fact that this was a spare-war setting, yet entirely without any real sense of space warfare. Comedy can co-exist with action people! |

It jumps out ahead of the series to after everything magically got resolved, without ever even hinting at how (very cheap) and throws this other plot at is without warning. It's okay action wise but this movie acts like Nadesico was actually completed and we all know of the strange events leading up to the movie's plot. The ending also just sucked, the final battle had all this climactic buildup and it's over in under ten seconds, again WTF?! |

If you're looking for a decent Shonen gundam style anime, this is it. It takes Gundam and throws out all of the politics and drama and instead replaces it with your typical martial-artist-with-a-tragic-past-rising-to-greatness story. It is interesting though to see the re-imagined Gundams that now are controlled via skin-tight sensory suits that mimic the pilot's movements. Just don't expect any real depth from this series and you'll be just fine. |

I liked it, was a tad kiddy but very nice character driven drama especially once they got more into the Sauske story. The pacing was off a little on some parts but otherwise it had an amazing ebb and flow that lent itself well to the genre. The movies started to get a bit stale after the first one though since it basically was the same formula repeated over and over again and never really advanced anything.
Only big issue was the dreaded filler, it eventually really did start to get to me, even me. |

We have episodes not even taking up a whole chapter of the manga, with two week breaks in between them. We have Naruto powering up for two whole episodes, and one episode just focusing on inner monologue. What gives here people? I know you don't want to catch up to the manga too fast, but you seriously risk losing the fanbase with this BS. Shape up! |

I liked Nightwalker partially. The big issue was that out of its entire twelve episodes only three followed any sort of linear plot. It was as if the entire anime was filler originally planned for a much longer series. There's no real ending at the end at all, but then again the conflict between Shido and his sire were even barely explored to begin with. If only this series had been developed more. -_-;; |

That said they integrated it into the story very nicely so I can almost overlook it. Though I really felt that Mizuho was a bit too unreal. I've never met any real woman ever that supportive dedicated or willing to risk things like that for some fifteen year old kid she just started to know. You can partially excuse her because her character's half alien, so maybe that's their culture. Still, she feels way too unbelievable especially at the end.
I also wanted the end to be more tragic, it should've been her leaving him, or if she did come back there should've been a story about both of them having to literally fight the galactic government for their right to love one another and live together. So many missed opportunities. |

I liked this much more than the first series, it's much more real and believable considering the characters, though I think how both Mina and Karen accepted Martia (or however you spell it) as normal without question was a bad move. I also did truly hate how they turned Matigu into this incestuous pervert, it just felt like a travesty. |

I like to think of Kenshin as a poor man's Trigun. Even though Kenshin came first Trigun took the entire concept of Kenshin and executed it much, much better. Only the early OVAS were really very good, as they portrayed Kenshin's brutal past. Yet somehow, this man manages to live without ever dying or even getting another scar yet refusing to ever kill anyone. Shishio's death via internal combustion was also equally ham-fisted. The one villain who would never stop killing and "ooh, noope, you magically burn to death all on your own so kenshin will never have to kill!" The ending OVA was also equally weird. Kenshin and Kaoru mysteriously die of some illness that causes their flesh to appear to be burning to cinders and no one ever even mentions what it is or how they caught it! So much lost potential. -_- |

Slightly above average Shonen action anime. Nothing truly special but nothing really bad either. The characters are a little unbelivable at times but it mostly fits. The ending was a giant WTF though. Do Kazuma and Ryuho just vanish into some magical dimension or something after punching each other enough? It doesn't make sense. Also, the mainland would eventually and very bloodily retake the Lost ground without someone there to prevent it, none of the native alters left at the end would've been strong enough to hold them off forever short of Kazuma and Ryuho. |

Decent harem comedy, it has its flaws but it worked for me, the world of men concept was also interesting. I really did love the story at the end, once it all came into plain view, though I wished the last few episodes had been more tragic than they were, or that the girls really had died or been trapped on the station forever. |

Ugh. where to begin. The animation is absolutely terrible, the voices are better than J again, but still not as good as the original VAs. The story is okay and actually interesting at times but it is so hard to get beyond the audio/visual hangups to enjoy it. It wasn't until the very end that it really finally started to grow on me and I was able to look beyond it.
Story wise I enjoyed it, and I really liked that they finished up the story and explained what was up with Dr. Hess. That said I think the ending should've been much more tragic than it was, though I was moderately satisfied with it. |

I really think I liked this series. It was generally on good terms, the plot flows nicely and it tells a good sci-fi-world-gets-nuked-to-the-dark-ages story without getting too terribly ham-fisted. I do feel though that it was too short. The peacemakers and Mauser were only agents of the Aliens. As soon as they were gone you'd think that the Aliens would return to destroy earth. Yet it just cuts to a happy ending.
I want there to be more, it feels like there's much more story yet left to tell. |

Extremely over-rated. The voices were okay but the animation was really lacking and I can't even begin to bring up my problems with the actual story. I actually got what they meant and it just left more questions and plot holes than it answered. I think people like it so much just because it makes a good discussion topic trying to figure out what the creators were smoking when they made it. |

My absolute favorite anime. Tenchi to me is a classic and even though it does have its flaws I still enjoy it more than any other anime. The characters go off the deep end at times but I found them far more beliavable than characters in most harem anime. The story was good and the characters really do grow over time, though I wish it was a longer OVA.

For a Tenchi spinoff I have to say this one did fairly well. I really couldn't expect too much as far as serious plot development since Tenchi series always focus on the extreme odd cases but I think Seina worked as a character. He seemed much more believable and relatable to than the almost Castrated Tenchi who never even hints at much beyond typical shonen "I must defend them!" actions. Plus at least Seina decided at the end...to Marry everyone...I don't know whether to be jealous or sorry for the guy, four women can definitely wear a guy out. :p |

Nice action/comedy anime, though a bit high on the fanservice at times. I think the whole Aya and Souichiro thing was a bit premature and forced though at the start. I liked very much though how humble and vulnerable they make the main characters. You can really see that they're human. My only major qualm was that again, non-ending. And the manga's censored over here so you can't really finish it that way either. I want to know what happens next ;_;

above average fantasy-comedy. I like this because the nudity feels more comedic and less fan-service-y. The story's off the wall but so are the characters and everything else so it all fits in well. My only major qualm was that they never really developed the story after the end of the first twelve episodes. They just go back to hunting fragments and we lose that chance to really develop the relationship between the characters.

I have a very love hate relationship with Tokyo underground. It has a pretty good story, some nice comedy, and interesting characters, it has so much potential....which it squanders with rarely seen effectiveness. The violence is all sickeningly honeyed and bloodless, the fights often feel almost meaningless and at times the show borders on young children's "let's all be bestest friends now that I beat you!" style of anime. Ruri and Rumina's relationship also needed more development.
They also leave some huge dangling plot issues. Who was Pyron and why was he in the underground. I can speculate and am pretty sure I know, but why did they just leave it as it was? IT could've been oh so much better. |

I also dislike how father Abel at times tries to be like Vash the stampede with his "I will never kill anyone!" bit. Still, a good watch and some absolutely fantastic art. |

Above averave action/drama but having read the manga first it felt too ham-fisted. All of the small changes they made to the story watered down the tragedy and the horrific shock the characters were in. They also removed the whole sub-plot of Kamui's friend at the clamp academy whose family keeps dying all around him because of the bitter feud between the dragons of heaven and earth.
They also completely cut out the comedy, which made the manga so beautiful. It made the characters much more real because it showed how these poor souls faced with this sheer stress of seeing everyone around them keep dying so horrifically were trying to use jokes and off the wall antics to hide and shield themselves from the trauma and cling to what little sanity they had left. So much missed possibility...if only they'd stayed 100% true to the manga, and then just given it a nice and tragic conclusion (preferably one where it's revealed Fuuma is winning because he's the one actually backed by God.) |
