Ah! My Goddess: The Movie Not really good
Air (TV) Very good I really have to say that this anime is for viewers with a serious heart. Air takes after the game, but it is really slow at time. It was hard for me to keep up with the story, as well as stay interested in watching it. It takes Misuzu and stranger, Yukito, and sets them in paradise city along the coast. Honestly, I don't even know what the plot is. If you need to know, read other reviews or look at the description/plot summary section for Air.
Akira (movie) Good
(The) Animatrix (OAV)
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Excellent Hilarity, confusion, a 10-year-girl smarter than most high schoolers. Azumanga Daioh brings the viewer comedy and just plain out confusion. A story of high school life, little over the ordinary, between six friends. Rivalry, friendship, cuteness, perverted teachers are all factors in the awesome adventures of comedy, Azumanga Daioh
Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie Decent
Azumanga Web Daioh (ONA) So-so
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (TV) Good Though very gruesome, the storyboard is very weak. I'm not saying it was terrible, but it's not one the better animés out there. For those who are turned on by masochists, this would be right up your alley. It is a good animé to confuse and disturb your friends with. All-in-all, give this animé a look see.
Elfen Lied (TV) Very good If you want some gore, blood, violence, then you should really get Elfen Lied. This gruesome anime is for viewers who want to see blood and nudity. I would really recommend this for mature viewers. Although it doesn't have sexual intercourse, it shows full nudity. I kind of suggested to be softcore pron, but everyone views it differently. The only setback is that the ending is a little slow, and I lost interest by the closing scene.
Elfen Lied (OAV) Good After viewing Elfen Lied (TV), it was a bit short for something that was very intricate. This extra episode isn't what you would call an OAV, but it is a nice addition to the plot. The OAV takes place between episodes 10 and 11. Nana has become part of the family and must do her share of the work to be able to stay under the hospitality of Kouta and Mayu. Carelessly trying to be better than Nyuu, Nana has found it hard to finish her chores without something breaking. Overall, it is a nice addition, and would suggest it to past Elfen Lied viewers.
Excel Saga (TV) Excellent
(The) Familiar of Zero (TV)
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie)
FLCL (OAV) Excellent
Fruits Basket (TV 1/2001) Excellent After reading some of the manga, I decided to see what the anime was like. Shockingly, it almost imitates the manga from the art style, to their personalities compared to the book. I'm not to big on shoujo anime/manga, but this is a must-see for anime-lovers who like drama, romance, and a little bit of comedy here and there.
Full Metal Panic! (TV) Very good (dub & sub) If you're into mechs and comedy, this anime is for you. Take a military addict and combine them with a short-tempered school girl and you got yourself a comedy. Unfortunately, this wasn't the best in the series, but it sets off the storyline for the other to FMP.
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (TV) Good Meh, this one deals more on feelings and emotions. This is the third installment of the FMP series. This one is a bit slower and is practically predictable after viewing the last two FMP's. I recommend this one if you love the FMP series and just can't get enough of it.
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV) Masterpiece (dub & sub) I'd say, this is the best set of episodes in the FMP series. Fumoffu deals more on Sousuke and his intervention in high school. It mainly deals with humour more than action, but it has its moments. Fumoffu starts to show a real connection between Sousuke and Chidori.
Futakoi (TV) Very good
Girl's High (TV) Good
Girls Bravo (TV) Decent
Green Green (TV) Good
Green Green (OAV) So-so
Green Green Thirteen: Erolutions (OAV) Good If you haven't seen Green Green (TV), then you might not want to pick this up, just yet. Also, don't pick it up if you cannot handle mature content. This OAV is a little on the explicit side, much more than the TV version. All-in-all, this is a nice addition to the Green Green series.
Guardian Ninja Mamoru (TV) Very good Here we are again with another ninja anime. This one, a lot like the rest. You have a top-of-his-class ninja whose job is to protect a family's daughter. Apparently, the family has been protecting another family for 400 years. And of course, the female heroin is a ditzy girl with no sense of coordination and balance. It's up to Mamoru's job to defend her from every wrong, including himself and his emotions as they grow for her as the anime progresses. I suggest it for ninja addicts and shoujo anime lovers.
.hack//Legend of the Twilight (TV) Good
.hack//SIGN (TV) Decent
Happy Lesson (TV) Very good (dub & sub) How would you like to have five moms, all specialize in an area of academics? How about having them all as your teachers in high school? Didn't think so. Happy Lesson is a comedy that watches over Chitose Hitotose as he grows up in the twisted world of his mother-teachers. With all of them with their own 'unique' abilities, his homelife is soon turned upside down when each wants to show their love to him.
Happy Lesson Advanced (TV) Very good The second installment of the Happy Lesson series. Advanced introduces another character to the anime. Kuron comes to Chitose's house in search for her 'mother', Mutsuki. At first, the rivalry between Chitose and Kuron over Mutsuki is a tough, elongated war. By the end of the series, friendship ties are made, but the rivalry still continues. I'd recommend it, if you are still interested in the Happy Lesson series.
Happy Lesson The Final (OAV) Good With only three episides, The Final deals with emotions and love (boy, how shocking!). With Chitose's admirer, Fumitsuki, she starts to show bit by bit her love for Chitose. But, Chitose doesn't choose Fumitsuki. Unfortunately, you're going to have to get The Final to find out who he chooses. But, there is a little 'side quest' that the gang takes. An old part of the school is being planned to be torn down for use of space at school. Mutsuki has memories in the old school and fights against the administration to stop the demolition, along with the entire Happy Lesson cast.
His and Her Circumstances (TV) Very good
Honey and Clover (TV)
Honey and Clover II (TV)
Howl's Moving Castle (movie)
Inukami! (TV)
Kasimasi - Girl Meets Girl (TV)
Kyo no Gononi (OAV)
Last Exile (TV)
Love Hina (TV) Excellent (dub & sub) I love Akamatsu. So, obviously I loved Love Hina. If you haven't read any of the manga, nor seen any of the anime, you should be ashamed. Although for more mature audiences, Love Hina is a perversed comedy between one male and six females, living in an apartment building. Keitaro just knows that Naru was his childhood friend that made a promise to get into Tokyo University. It's hiliarious characters and plot twists, Love Hina is a must-see for teenagers, it's not for everybody!
Love Hina Again (OAV) Excellent (dub & sub) I have to say that Love Hina Again kind of wrapped things up for the Love Hina series. The OAV features the entire cast of Love Hina and their messed up adventures of getting Keitaro and Naru together. Misunderstandings, wrong place/wrong time antics, and backstabbing are main concepts used in Love Hina Again. I suggest to take a gander at Love Hina Again just to finish up the series.
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream Good (dub & sub) Being stranded on a deserted island isn't what you call paradise. Knowingly that he failed, Keitaro decides to give up his life and work abroad. Under the employment of a Tokyo University professor, Seto, he begins a new life of work on a distant island. Fumed, Naru and the girls start their ridiculous chase after Keitaro. It wasn't a very interesting to watch, so I really wouldn't recommend it to regular viewers. But, it is still Akamatsu's work, so you got to love it!
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve Very good (dub & sub) The first movie in the Love Hina series. It's Christmas time and everyone wants to get that special someone and special something. Keitaro chasing after Naru, Naru chasing after Keitaro, everyone not knowing what's going on is basically the entire movie right there. I recommend it to everyone to watch the hiliarity and stupidity of two destined lovers.
Mahoromatic - Automatic Maiden (TV) Very good First in the series, Mahoromatic is a very typical anime. Robot maiden, teenage boy living alone with no parents, group of female friends who are crazy for him, typical. Mahoro has come to help Suguru with the task of keeping his house tidy. But, Mahoro is not your typical maid, she is a battle android that 'retired' from her position because the life span of her system would be cut short if she continued fighting. In honour of her request, she was sent down to Earth and would help Suguru and protect him. But does she have another intention by staying with Suguru?
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Masterpiece
Moekan (OAV) Decent
Negima! (TV) Excellent The next big hit to eventually hit the US. Magister Negi Magi (Mahou Sensei Negima) is obviously based off of the manga by Ken Akamatsu. It puts a 10-year-old British kid, Negi, in charge a class of rowdy Japanese female students. Each of the students possess their own special abilities and start to find out about Negi's abilities, being a mage. I suggest this to everyone whether it'd be a subbed version, or the US adaption once it comes out.
Negima!? (TV)
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) Excellent Although it's still being made, I came across a strange anime that I ADORE! Pani Poni Dash is a screwed up, twisted, and confusing anime (the way I like it). Think of it like Azumanga Daioh. You take six female main characters, a 10-year old teacher, confusing side adventures and you got yourself an episode of Pani Poni Dash. The art style is a little childish, chibi at times, a little cutesy and all that jazz. It's only being fansubbed currently, so you will need to find a seeder.
Please Teacher! (TV) Very good The first of the series, Please! gives us a pretty modern anime where an alien has been assigned to keep watch over Earth, how typical. Unforunately, a boy with a rare disease, stumbles accross her secret. The alien has camoflauged herself as a young school teacher at a nearby school. In the end, the two end up married through bad timing and awkward scenes. Really, I suggest just downloading it, because it does get repeatitive and boring after a couple episodes.
Please Twins! (TV) Very good The second installment by Please!, Onegai Twins gives the same surroundings, same school, pretty much same everything except set a couple years later where an orphan is trying to live on his own. But, he brings along with him a picture of himself as a child with another person in the picture who he thinks is his twin. However, there is one other person, but two girls show up on his front doorstep insisting that they are his twin. Homelife has been altered and Maiku's world has been flipped upside-down since the arrival of these two unknown girls.
Princess Mononoke (movie) Masterpiece One of the very first anime I watched, and still today, it still remains one of the top rated animes all over the world. We have a young man who is plagued by a demon that had affected a charging warpig. In order to save himself, he has to find the spirit of the forest to rid him of this terrible disease. Through his adventures, he encounters a young girl who has been raised by the wolf pack. It will take time for her accept Ashitaka's help and would have to help him sometime.
R.O.D -The TV- Excellent The sequel to the first Read or Die (OAV), a writer, Nenene Sumiregawa, has made it do the big time and is trying to work on her second novel. But, after a mailed threat to her, her editor hires three bodyguards to protect her at a booksigning. The three paper sisters, Maggie, Anita, and Michelle. These three dimwits will follow along with Nenene and her hardships in finding her lost friend, Yomiko Readman.
Read or Die (OAV) Masterpiece I really enjoyed Read or Die. Although I had the misfortune and saw most of the sequel, R.O.D. the TV first, but this really explained a lot of things to me. You have a bibliophile who just loves anything to do with books and literature. And, she has a unique skill to manipulate paper as she pleases. She can make it as sharp as a sword, strong as metal, and pretty much shape anything she wants. I would suggest this to everyone to at least look at it. It's an action film and the soundtrack reminds me of a James Bond film.
School Days (TV)
Scramble Wars (OAV)
Shuffle! (TV) Excellent Okay, you have someone who is a childhood friend, who is basically your friend, maid, lover, mom-figure, rival. Shuffle is a bit mixed up, hence why it's titled Shuffle. It's more of shoujo anime, so it's a romance. It does have it's moments of humour, just to keep the viewer's attention. From the beginning of the anime, you would think of it as a typical anime where the childhood friends will always be together and eventually pronounce their love to each other. Shuffle twists it up by adding four other girls at his side, pretty much a dating sim game.
Spirited Away (movie) Masterpiece From the same creator of Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) comes another great masterpiece, Spirited Away. Trapped in another dimension, Sen (real name Chihiro) must work for her parents' freedom. But, things start to go wrong when she is disliked by all the creatures working in the bath house, a mysterious shadow creature starts to infilitrate the bath house with fake gold, and running away to get the help of a sister witch to let her become free and break her parents' spell. I really loved this movie and I suggest everyone pick up a copy. I wouldn't say go out and buy it, but a normal rental from your local movie rental store is sufficient.
Steel Angel Kurumi (TV) Good
Steel Angel Kurumi 2 (TV) Decent
Step Up Love Story (OAV) Decent This short, mature anime is a little bit boring. A newlywed couple are shown into the wild world of sexual intercourse. With friends and family helping them become better 'partners'. This OAV has only four episodes, so don't expect to be entertained for long.
Suzuka (TV) Decent Ah, yet another shoujo anime that has a guy chasing after a girl and has to change his entire views of life just to get her attention. But this time, it's on the track. Suzuka, one of nation's top high jumpers, is training at a school that looks high upon sports. Yamato, however, got in to the school without much intention of doing any sports. His first walk past the school, he sees Suzuka practicing jumping and he is bedazzled by her abilities. However, as soon as they meet, things just start to breakdown and Suzuka cannot decide on her emotions.
UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie (TV)
UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie 2: December Nocturne (TV)
