Howl's Moving Castle (movie) Decent I know a lot of people would disagree, but in my opinion, this movie was somewhat hard to follow. Furthermore, I could not get pulled into the movie or the world surrounding it. And no, I have never read the original novel, so I'm not making any comparisons.
Infinite Ryvius (TV) Masterpiece Very impressive for director Taniguchi's second work. I found it really difficult to stop watching the series, with all the twists and turns in makes. The series also had an extremely large cast, which was handled perfectly. I would see the world within the Ryvius clearly from several characters' point of views. I can't recmomend this series enough.
MegaMan Maverick Hunter X: The Day of Sigma (OAV) Very good
(The) Mystical Laws (movie) Masterpiece Definitely one of the best comedies of the year. Very random plot elements and cheesy writing. I've seen other comedies before, but none have ever made me laugh this hard, and the audience in the movie theater seemed to agree.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Excellent Pretty good series. However, the "battle arc"(episodes 7-14) slowed down the series a bit. OTher than that, Evangelion kept me interested up until the end. However, it's still far from a masterpiece. Hideaki Anno's unusual directing style is rather inconsistent, which made the series rather hard to follow.

Pokémon: The First Movie (movie 1) Very good
RahXephon (TV) Masterpiece As I watched this series, it felt more like I was reading a very good science fiction novel rather than watching an anime. This series takes full advantage of the fact that it's an animated TV series. Rahxephon features sharp, cinematic animation and an organic music score that is pleasing to the ears. Action scenes are particularly fluid, as well. The story may be hard to follow for some, but this series kept my full attention from beginning to end, and I was able to pick up the hints and put the storyline together myself. Many say that this series is a rip-off of Evangelion; however, I'd say it's an improvement over Evangelion. The directing style is much more consistent, the script sounds more realistic, and the story is told in a way that the audience can actually put the storyline together with a bit of thought.
