5 Centimeters Per Second (movie) Very good
Ah! My Goddess (TV) Very good Much better than the manga, the characters had been tweaked I suppose. The main character becomes less pigish and more soft. The issues involved are always a bit humerous, so be sure not to take anything too seriously. A good, light hearted series.
Ah! My Goddess: The Movie Excellent
Antique Bakery (TV) Very good
Aquarian Age - Sign for Evolution (TV) Good I was hoping they'd veer away from the music scene a bit more, but they never did. I was also hoping the main character would learn to use his ability a bit more by the end (I wanted to smack him), but again, he never did. However I felt the characters were quite awesome. And the english version had great voice actors. The story is also a unique one that's being carried over to new manga's (Juvenille Orion) and it's worth giving it a look. it's a short series, as well.
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Excellent Very cute and simple. Nice and relaxing after overly dramatic days.
Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru: Secret Sweethearts - Kono Koi wa Himitsu (OAV) Good While the incest is a tad creepy to wrap your mind around, if you give it a try you may find yourself believing that love is love, end of story. It's at least enough to get your philosophical side questioning, and your heart caught up in it.
Chi's Sweet Home (TV) Very good
Chobits (TV) Excellent Chobits is a classic that every Anime fan has to watch. It's funny and serious, but both done at the appropriate moment. It's an amazing work, and one of CLAMP's best.
(La) Corda D'Oro - primo passo (TV) Very good Very cute, beautiful, with lots of gorgeous moments. But, in the end, there's no couple. So... It's sort of depressing in a way <.<
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Excellent A classic, with unique characters. If you haven't seen this yet, you're a bit out of the loop.
Death Note (TV) Excellent A tragedy, so be prepared to be pissed off before it's even over. Everything you don't want to happen happens. But despite the nature of the tragedy, it will leave you thinking weeks after it happens, and you may find yourself irrationally in love with a character or two. It's dramatic and dark, and incredible.
FLCL (OAV) Decent
Fruits Basket (TV) Masterpiece This is the anime that got me into Anime... My sister had been watching it, and made me watch it. (Sadly I started the episodes where Tohru meets Akito. Not the best place to start o.O) The characters are amazing - They drive the story. You just can't wait to find out what will happen. Perhaps that's what really makes it a Shojo. It's about the people, in unique circumstances. It's just amazing. ^.^ Definately check out the manga if you're a fan. There are more characters, and they go in different directions (Slightly). Plus, Yuki is a lot creepier in the manga...
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Masterpiece Great animation, voice actors, character development, story complexity - this series has it all. Militant-driven, but with romance and humor splashed in. The relationship between the two brothers is one I've seen illustrated in fan art to bring tears to your eyes (if you're girly like me). It's a great series, you don't want to miss it.
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Excellent A touching story- and I was pretty sure Miyazaki had a hand in this (yet not listed on the page here at all o.O)
Howl's Moving Castle (movie) Masterpiece I think, hands down, Miyazaki's best work. The whole Beauty and the Beast meets Wizard of Oz worked wonders for me.
ItaKiss (TV) Masterpiece Funny, annoying (in the way that keeps you watching because you care) characters will draw you in and keep you here. The animation is older-style, but yet the main characters are still attractive enough.
Karin (TV) Excellent
Kimikiss pure rouge (TV) Very good It's a high school drama, of course. So lots of love and frustration. In the end, I feel everywhere is where they belong, and that made me quite warm and fuzzy. It's a nice easy watch, without too much depth or drama. I found it comforting after watching Death Note. ;)
Looking Up At The Half-Moon (TV) Good
Loveless (TV) Excellent
Moyashimon (TV) Very good
My Neighbor Totoro (movie) Excellent Miyazaki's very cute childrens movie. Definately one my children will have available to watch.
Myself; Yourself (TV) Excellent
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie) Masterpiece Miyazaki's beautiful anime. One I think that is too often overlooked. The nature-driven themes are just incredible, something I feel that needs to be revived in our over-cemented America. The manga is even better, but the movie is still stunning. Tieing for second with Princess Mononoke and Spirited away behind Howl's moving castle on my list.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Not really good I was never able to get into this. I didn't get the whole funny then depressing bit. Most anime has those jumps, but it just made me feel really freakily weird in this one. A bipolar show for sure. But I'll give it credit, the characters are really developed, the storyline gets quite complex, and the animation isn't too bad either.
Oh My Goddess! (OAV) Very good
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Excellent Amazing. Each character is so vivid and full, and you fall in love with them all. It has an almost fantasy-like feel to the world (though it isn't) and makes you adore it. The only negative thing is that the romance never got as deep as I'd have liked it. Thought you know genuine feelings lay underneath it all.
Princess Mononoke (movie) Masterpiece Miyazaki's more gruesome and blood-filled movie. But the love story in this is just as strong and subtle as most of his films. Again he has a nature vs. industrialism theme like with Nausicaa, and it's as powerful as the rest.
Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection (OAV) Excellent
Rurouni Kenshin: The Motion Picture So-so
Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (OAV) Excellent Im a huge fan of Rorouni Kenshin. The anime all seem to take a new spin on the same era and characters, just put together much differently than the manga. It was a little disorienting for me at first, but I quickly hopped along and loved their new tale.
Samurai Champloo (TV) Excellent A really great series. I caught it on Adult swim and fell in love. Not only with the characters and their diversity, but with the drawing style of the anime, and the weird play with merging with modern day times. (It's creepy sometimes). A great series.
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) Very good This show was quite a mind trip. But at the end of it all, I was quite bummed. The show opened way too many can 'o worms and never quite wrapped up a lot of my questions. Like, what the hell was that deal with her sister? What on earth was up with the sudden appearence of an alien? And why oh why does that guy trip out on a microchip... The ending was cool, I'll give it that. But it didn't resolve the things I wanted resolved...
Spirited Away (movie) Masterpiece Miyazaki's film lives up to the great legacy he's made for himself. This is more of a children's film, but not just for children. The film brings back a childlike feel of imaginary friends and daydreams we all once had. Combined with the amazing maturity a child can have, to remind us all of what children are capable of. An amazing tale.
Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations (OAV) Excellent
Vampire Knight (TV) Excellent
(The) Wallflower (TV) Excellent
Witch Hunter Robin (TV) Masterpiece An awesome show, with a definate American/English feel. (You can't get away from that when Witchcraft and Salem Witch Trials are involved) Thought it was awesome.
X (movie) Awful It was rather jumpy and confusing. As a work by itself, it sucked. And the English voices were awful. If you're a huge fan of X/1999, then have at it, just watch in subtitles.
X OAV Not really good Definately weird. More like an ad or trailor for the X series then an episode/show in itself.
xxxHOLiC (TV) Excellent My absolute favorite CLAMP work. Domeki-kun has stolen my fandom for a while. The series is great to watch over time, as each episode is great as a stand alone. Then when put together makes a wonderful tale as well.
xxxHOLiC: Kei (TV) A continuation of the first series. Which makes me absolutely thrilled.
