Spirited Away (movie) Masterpiece
Steamboy (movie) Very good
Summer Wars (movie) Excellent Summer Wars moves like a Masterpiece. The opening sequence is awesome, and the two lead characters, Kenji and Natsuki are highly likable. Directed by, Mamoru Hosoda, the same director that made The Girl Who Lept Through Time wars is a story about a social network site causing the world to end. The most notable part of this movie besides the fact that they constantly play Coy Coy a Japenese card game throughout is the fact that every character has an Avatar making each character more unique in a duplicate kind of way. This is great except they should have brought this in to the movie earlier because it's one of the best ideas going on. Problem is we only see some Avatars until later. All the critics are saying that Summer Wars lacks a magic but I still haven't heard a good answers as to why. Well I'll tell you what it is. The beginning is too long. That's it. From the second half of the movie on it's great. Everything that makes an Anime great is there; great, unique characters, emotional daydreaming, teamwork, action. Before that... well...the intro is awesome but than I started to get board. Either way this small roller coaster ride is worth it! It's most defiantly fun to watch!
(The) Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk (TV) Masterpiece
(The) Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk (TV) Excellent
(The) Twelve Kingdoms (TV) Excellent This Anime starts out awesome! but suffers from the same symptoms as most Anime. The animation is choppy and scrolls, yet there are well drawn scenes. Also the story line is confusing, yet still has a habit of engrossing you. The writing sounds like it was written by one of the characters from The Big Bang Theory making this almost classic rendition of what could be a more detailed Narnia, an overwhelming and bloated Narnia. Twelves strength is the topics that are carried on dramatically throughout; poverty, suffering, corruption, salvation, and loyal friendships. This series is like a roller-coaster ride, but it's a great one.
Wolf's Rain (TV) Excellent This Anime is above par. It has passion and it's unique. It also has good characters. The only reason it's not better than excellent is because I would expect a slightly less confusing story line (although I heard there is an OAV version expecially for the last episode so maybe this helps make it better). The story line is perfect for awhile but starts to get a little too confusing in the final episodes. They should have added a couple more episodes to explain the story and maybe a couple extra unique characters who have good character depth would have been nice. A classic Anime is one you can watch anytime with anyone. This get's close and misses, but it is a must watch.
