Absolute Boyfriend (manga) Masterpiece MY FAVORITE MANGA!! Zekkare is the best manga I've ever read. I love everything about it, and everyone in it, and every genuinely funny joke, goofy moment, and delectable bish ^_^ (I'm actually a rabid Soushi fan-girl, he's my favorite bishounen of all time. Totally unexpected..) If this was animated.. oh.. %_% I'd be so happy.. Anyway I'd go more into depth about just WHAT makes this series so special, but I'm too busy staring at Soushi. Sorry. ^_- The artwork has truly shown how Yuu Watase has honed her talent, making this polished and wonderful to watch.
Chicago (manga) Good Read the 1st of 2 volumes from Animerica Extra. So technically, this belongs in my collection. A great action Shoujo. It can appeal to anyone, and has a gritty aftertaste. Delicious ^_^
Fushigi Yûgi (manga) Very good Read the (approx.) first 4-5 volumes from Animerica Extra. So technically, I own that chunk of the series. Watase Yuu's most popular series in the U.S. It's very good, but ZK is even better ^_^
Marionette Generation (manga) Good Read the (approx) first 3 volumes (at most) from Animerica Extra. So technically, I own that chunk of the series. This one was a very pleasent surprise, despite the artwork (which is actually pretty good, once you get into it.) and premise, it's great fun. I liked this one a great deal.
Revolutionary Girl Utena (manga) Excellent Read the (approx.) first volume from Animerica Extra. So technically, I own that chunk of the series. THIS IS MY FAVORITE MANGA (along with Zettai Kareshi and Angel Sanctuary and X. Yes I know.. -_-;;) It's better than the anime (which rules all) beautiful artwork, a wonderful story with a great flow to it, you'll just keep reading. It's refreshing and enjoyable, plus with all the great Shoujo expectencies~ WANT MORE CHIHO SAITO MANGA! >_<
S+M (manga) Excellent Okay.. the cover looks VERY dirty. The title is dirty. Everything about it spells out "smut-fest" so I dl it from ShoujoMagic, read the first volume cover to cover and- WEAK! No smut?!? Anyway, heh, regardless of the relatively low smut-level (apparently it gets higher later on.) I loved this one. A great deal of fun to read. I'm rating it excellent just for that. It didn't need wonderous bishies (though there is one character that looks nice enough <3) it was enjoyable and wonderfully written. If they animated it, changed the name and didn't make THAT their first dvd cover *blush* than this could pass off as a nice Shoujo for a younger audience. Hehe. Actually the first vol's cover isn't that dirty, but coupled with the title, you expect.. yeah.
Steam Detectives (manga) Decent Umm.. Read the middle of volume.. 4? 4-7 to completion. I read all of that, but it wasn't too confusing (at first it is, but it quickly moves onto another storyline, keeping it episodic) I like the characters, they are rendered well. But overall, I just don't like it. I'm just not into that genre, I'm such a Shoujo Manga girl. I'm sure it's not bad, it's just not for me.
Tsuki ni Kiss no Hanataba o (manga) Excellent Well, I have this friend named Jessica. She's with a guy named Alex. Early on in their relationship, they acted JUST LIKE THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS IN THIS MANGA. They four have so much in common, I was floored. Anyway, this is an excellent, enjoyable romance read for older Shoujo. I've just gotta lend it to Jessi, if it's ever liscensed here.
Video Girl Ai (manga) Good Read the first 4-5 volumes (like with Fushigi Yuugi!) First of all, the first chapter looks amazing. I could read that chapter over and over, the styling and art is so great. Then it changes -__- It doesn't look terrible, but it isn't terribly unique. Anyway, I really got into this series, so much so I could've called it one of my favorites. (and I still will, for the first 2-3 volumes) but then the plot takes a turn (a WRONG turn, IMO.) and the main character goes from being a good guy with a heart of gold to a fluking idiot. I really hated him. But at the end of volume four.. the b!tch (I dislike her so much, I forgot her name) dissapeared, a new cooler character was introduced, and no it's all cool ^^ plus you can totally tell that Youta and Ai will eventually get back together. Even though Youta is apparantly suffering from stupid, I bet he'll prove to be less of stupid in the end ^^ I was mesmorized by Moemi and Takahashi. Taka in particular. First of all, he's sweet and devoted to Youta to the point of being gay, and he spurns and is repelled by all girls (probably because of something from his past... that STILL isn't revealed. GRR) yet Moemi chases after him and loves him all the same. Moemi is an innocent type, even if she's a total idiot for not noticing Youta lik(ED) her. (Maybe she did? But just was disinterested in him, didn't know how to tackle that, and so pretended she had no idea.) Moemi and Takahashi are one of the most unbelievably doomed couple(s) I've ever seen. So why do I ship them? Probably just because of that ^^ such a challenge. Anyway this paragraph is longer than any other on any of my reviews. WEIRD. o_0 this certainly isn't my favorite series, I'd give it a 6/10 four points off just for that one B!tch.. I remember her name now! ^_^ Nobuko!
