Read some Rating Comment
20th Century Boys (manga) Very good
Berserk (manga)
Crimson Hero (manga) Good A rare shoujo heroine who is both likable and admirable. The focus is more on the characters reasons for playing volley ball then depicting actual games, which differentiates it from most shonen sports manga I've read. Theres also a romantic triangle (well square actually) but it doesn't dominate the plot to much like other shoujos I've read. I think this is a really good lightweight series, and I also enjoy the strong female lead after the Hatsumis (oh god hot gimmick) and such like "weak is feminine" twits.
Death Note (manga) Good
Monster (manga) So-so I was collecting this as it was released by viz and got up to volume 6 before I gave up on it getting any good. I think maybe when I started reading this my expectations were a little high seeing as I loved 20th century boys so much. I know everyone goes on about how this a masterpiece of pacing, art, plot, etc, but I just found it completely un engaging. The Baby, the white supremacist villain (named after a song by the black motown group the ronettes, go figure), was just silly and the formula of: Tenma comes every ones like "oh my god he's WANTED", Tenma saves everyone / teaches them to live life to the fullest, They then nobly save tenma and get misty eyed as they help him on his way. Honestly I feel this series reads like a sub par action thriller, sure its different from most manga but that does not always mean better.
NANA (manga) Excellent
