Nah, those are already sold and in your home - ain't nuthin' they can do 'bout that. This is about point-of-sale.

Now, if you try to sell 'em......... Laughing
That's why ebay was mentioned. Amazon.com.jp is also used by private sellers to sell items. I don't know what restrictions are placed on adult items being sold online. Actually USA Amazon just went porn free, as I can no longer sell any of my adult DVDs or video games.

Even Japan is not anal enough to confiscate people's private collections (...yet). But whatever becomes 18+, whether it originally was rated as such or not, will be restricted from online selling (except for retailers specifically authorized to sell adult goods).

Another journal on the matter from Haluka-Mugen on DA: http://haluka-mugen.deviantart.com/journal/37022383/

I suggest everyone to read it since it has a quote from Tokyo vice-governor and some information about how the people against this law could abolish it thanks a collection of signatures (but this could have negative effects, too).

Well the bill bans all ecchi and hentai/porn comics from people under 18. It used to be okay for 13 year olds to buy that stuff (sexual acitvity is legal for people over 14/15 in japan). This however does not ban Doraemon, DB, Soul Eater etc. Those are still all good and can be purchased normally so this new law has not really affected on us YET but what I'm afraid of is that next year there will be an addition to this law which bans ALL "naughty" stuff. Meaning 100% censorship on every series out there! This is why so many people in Japan and outside of Japan are worried/pissed off (like me). I'd hate to see Japan go down with the rest of the world with full censorship on everything. This worries me and I don't wanna see this happen. Japan still has it's own governement and full control of things so they should quickly do something to reverse this new law before it goes worse.

And to people who say that this was done for "the sake of children", F**K you! This is a personal attack against Japan and manga/anime culture. Done by crazy crazy people who just want control over others. Japan should be left alone and those people should concentrate on other, bigger problems like helping kids in Africa or some shit( if they wanna help kids like they say). This is not acceptable and I'm pissed!

I wish there was a bill done against this law , I'd sign it immedietly !

Clearly you have never been to Japan and only know about it from anime.

If you think 13 year-olds can waltz in and buy 18+ material, you're nuts.

And the age of consent in Japan is 16, just like most of the US.

Nope, not anymore. The national law states that each prefecture can make their own age of consent law but that it can't be lower than 13. Most prefectures set their age of consent between 16 and 18. However, in Tokyo it was 13 until a few years ago, they changed it to 18.
