You know, if I hadn't seen so many series like it, I probably would have continued it. But I'd still recommend it to newbies, since it only takes 8 books to finish what other authors drag out too long in other series.

Yeah, Marmalade Boy and Kodocha were probably some of the first manga I ever read. Good stuff.

I think this is one of the longest sentences I've ever read:

Somehow, the spouse swapping thing doesn't sound like a very cute and endearing setup for a series that is supposed to be such. It sounds rather sickening actually...

Yeah, I thought so too . . . Until I actually picked it up and gave it a chance. It's not as creepy as it sounds. Really.

A couple notes about the review:

It's Koishikawa -- with a K.

The series really isn't as creepy as you might think. The parents swapping partners sounds really bizarre -- but they're also presented (rather humourously) as maniacs half of the time. Yoshizumi-san DOES eventually explain everything over the course of the series; so the parents don't look like they're completely insane by the time you get through with it -- but they're still extremely quirky.

Most of the weirdness -- blame it on the parents. But don't let them ruin it for you, give the series a chance for the other characters: Miki, Yuu, Meiko, Ginta, Arimi...
