This is standard for anime films at the cinema though. Especially when it comes to bigger releases like Eva or Ghibli movies. Macross, despite being at the tail end of the biggest boom in its popularity since the 80's, is still incredibly niche in Japan. Most people dont know it. Then Frontier brought in a whole new generation of fans. Either way though, I know friends and colleagues who saw Eva 2.0 3 or 4 times, and Ponyo 4 or 5 times - and these are people who wouldnt consider themselves as anime fans. So multiple viewings is very normal.

And here they thought the grrrrrls rewatching Titanic multiple times, keeping it #1 for several months, was insane! Laughing
