Been a while since I posted here. So here's the current list of titles I'm either watching, re-watching, or am planning to watch very soon. Most are action oriented as I simply am in an action mood as of late. Boobs, guns, explosions, and fights are the rave right now for me lol.

Moribito-- My gf really wnated to watch this one and I've missed some of the episodes so a nice viewing from start to finish will be good.

RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne-- Been meaning to get to this one. It's pretty good I think. Nice mix of action and suspense/mystery to it. I understand though why reviewers in the past have said it can be a bit....dark and has heavy sexual overtones. Yea....quite a few S&M moments in it and just scenes that make you go "wow.....damn that's messed up."

Hellsing Ultimate-- Another title the gf has not seen and wants to. Fine by me. Always up for another reason to re-watch Hellsing Ultimate heh.

Queen's Blade-- This is the T&A aspect of my action craze right now lol. QB is really just about T&A and some pretty nice looking fight scenes. No complaints here. If I want depth and a moving story I'll go re-watch Kurau or Haibane Renmei. T&A works nicely right now heh.

Guin Saga (part 1) - Pretty awesome introduction into this one. Not one of my favorite series but def one of the better fantasy genre on a epic scale.

I cant wait for the next part also I think I have the motivation to read the novels (if only even 1/4 of them were released in the states)

Now back to Nadia and Moribito

I am watching Mushi-shi at the moment. I was in a anime club and we started watching it but never finished because majority vote was to watch another anime. The anime happens to entertain me and catch my interest. I want to know more of the mushi master back ground and what kind of mushi are there. I am only on episode 5 as of now.

Finally finished DtB: Ryusei no Gemini. Hei finally shaved and got himself a haircut. I have said it already, but might as well say it again, this so so much better than the first series. They should have made the first one shorter and get rid of some pointless episodes. Gemini had a great pace and did not slow down for a minute. True, I did not care much about the background characters as much as in the first season- I guess you can't have everything.

Edited the typo.

You must be the first person I've ever encountered who preferred the second season.
I've re-watched the first season so many times already - it's not even fair to compare both (assuming it's DTB 1 vs DTB 2 + OVA).

My sentiments exactly. Even people I know who hated Darker than Black S1 thought that S2 was worse by far.

Though there were no pointless episodes in Darker than Black--Season 1. Even the spoiler[ova Funi put in with S1,with the human-pachyderm coitus had a point:] it was hilarious, and it gave a bit more BG on the characters. Also, it gave us a classic Funimation commentary track Wink

On topic, I'm watching Freezing off-and-on, as it's the only show out of the cheesy wannabe-porn shows that I actually found watchable. Maybe it's because I'm playing Arcana Heart 3 to death concurrently.

Canaan--I saw part of this in Japanese when it came out, and hated it. Watching it again in English, and it is worlds better IMO. So far, it is closer to Darker than Black than the traditional Bee-Train GWG trilogy, which I found boring.

Excel Saga--Finally getting around to finishing this after seeing so many AMVs for it. I didn't realize how awesome it was, it's the adult Galaxy Angel. Though if I had seen it years ago, I wouldn't have gotten even half of the references the show makes, or been familiar with the dub cast.

I'm being forced to rewatch Clannad--Dub, but even though I still revile it, the show is worlds better in dub.

So far the only current show I'm watching is Tiger & Bunny. (I wish they'd used the Japanese for the title, talking about this show to people not in the know requires 5 minutes or so to transcend the "kiddie show" stigma such an English title has. Anyone else having that issue?)

I quite enjoyed DTB 2 as well - not sure I'd say I preferred it to the first, though. They are kind of apples and oranges to me because of the different season lengths (one cours vs. two) and the fact that the first season was mostly 2-eppie arcs vs. DTB2's ongoing serial story. One thing I definitely didn't appreciate about DTB2 was that Stern Glasses Policewoman wasn't in it very much and I dig her.

DTB = Darker than Black (the blackest of black, times infinity...couldn't resist)

EDIT: Yes, in what I think is a typo, the dude who started the discussion of the show called it DDB. (Darker Den Black? lol)

Now, if only Darker than Black Season 2 (ie DTB S2) would come out dubbed already, so that we can make a more fair comparison. I personally didn't like DTB S1 in sub anywhere near as much as I did in dub. The J-actor for the main character really couldn't handle the vocal switch between his "Bruce Wayne" and "Batman" persona as well as Jason Liebrecht did in the dub.

I feel pretty much the same way: despite the fact that they are technically from the same series, the differences in tone, atmosphere, and story structure between the two seasons are so dramatic that it makes comparing them an exercise in futility.

And yes, I think Kirihara deserved a lot more screen time than she got in the second season. It's not often that you see a strong, confident woman in anime who isn't presented as a shrew, a busty warrior, or is ridiculously emotionally damaged inside.

Personally though, I think that anyone's enjoyment of the second season is largely going to hinge on two things: Suou and spoiler[hobo] Hei. If you like both of them (like me), or at least find them interesting, then you'll almost certainly like Gemini. If, however, you despise Suou with a fiery passion or believe that spoiler[hobo Hei is a grave insult to his characterization in the first season], as most people seem to, then you'll probably hate it.

I think the little arcs is what I did not find very appealing. The first half of the first season dragged on and on and on and on. And on. I thought throughout the whole show "Come on guys, get to the POINT". The atmoshpere might have been better, but personal preference went with one, coherent storyline that was not going sideways so much.
Kirihara was great in first season, in second she was mainly frowning. I dont know whether having more of that would make anything better.
Overally, the first season did a better job at delivering a bigger number of more interesting characters, but for the most part, it aimed at boring me to death. Maybe because I thoroughly did not enjoy it, the second season came to me as a nice surprise.

put hunter x hunter on shuffle.
Best shonen show imo.
The tv series is just an enjoyable watch.
Not alot of char development, but likeable chars, and a good plot that keeps a good pace. The first ova is pretty good too since it finishes up the york new city arc. Not a big fan of the greed island arc tho. Hopefully the HxH manga will return from hiatus sometime in the next decade and finish up the chimera ant arc and we'll get a new ova(or maybe even a new tv season since the ant arc is a LOT of material).

@Blood-:

Nothing gets my blood boiling than a story which spoiler[is internally inconsistent,] which is what caused me to drop Yumekui Merry from a mediocre rating to an outright bad one. Episode spoiler[nine] was quite simply offensive to the audience's intelligence.

I am currently watching Chobits. This was recommended to me by my husband's nephew and so far I am enjoying it. I am watching it dubbed and I have to say they did a good job. I don't know if others reading this post will agree though...
I am intrigued with the story line: Personal computers designed to mimic humans, hmmm??? I wonder if this is what the near future looks like? There's also a recurring theme in the anime spoiler[Is a persocom more desirable than a human?]

As I did with Spice & Wolf I'm doing a rewatch of Bamboo Blade before it expires. To get through all episodes I do have to spend all my free time watching it in order to get it watched by Friday.

Interestingly the language issue is the opposite of what it was with S&W, in this case I originally watched the dub and now am mainly watching the sub. And most strangely for a sub guy like me, I think I l prefer the dub in the case of both. With SPice and Wolf it makes it easier to follow the dialogue and in Bamboo Blade's case the usual formal language intricacies I like to keep intact by watching a sub just don't seem to matter. Only in a couple cases do honorifics and how people are referred to really matter. Tamaki once has a problem with being called Tama-chan but its dropped and I can't remember if it's ever brought up again. So the English is fine and the performances in the dub were quite good and natural sounding as well.
