Well its good news that he's still planning to do this, although I am guessing it will be a long ways away if its after Avatar 2 and 3. I am sure if anyone can give an anime/manga a good live action adaption it will be him though, he will definitely be able to have a large enough budget.

Honestly, I almost feel like it'd be better if he'd just let battle angel die. Rather than after every movie saying "after my next movie."

What other movies has he said that with? He hasn't made any other movies since Titanic. He would be an idiot to not make sequels after how much money Avatar made, plus he already stated he would want to make it a trilogy if it was successful (said the same for Battle Angel). If he waited to make the Avatar films later it would probably throw off the whole process. |

Its a weird ride. Basically, back in like... 2003 or so, he said he wanted to do Battle Angel. It seemed like he was going to do as his next movie, but supposedly technology wasn't where he wanted it to be able to do the movie. Then, he was supposedly, going to work on it after Ghost of the Abyss. But, after Ghost of the Abyss, he said that he had 2 franchises he wanted to work on (Avatar and Battle Angel), both were trilogies, and the plan was to do one, and if it was successful, do the sequels back to back. Then, do the other one, and if it was successful, do the sequels back to back. Battle Angel was supposed to be first, but supposedly, Avatar got funding and producers behind it first, so it went first. Then, after Avatar, he was obvious he was going to do a sequel, but from interviews, it sounded like he was going to do Battle Angel after the first sequel. Now that the first sequel is going along in production, its planned after the second sequel. Which is actually more along the lines of what he original said about the 2 series back in 2005 (that, if it was successful, he'd complete both movies of the trilogy back to back, before starting the other series). |

I think he's trying to compete with Media Blasters for the "Most Pushed Back Release Date" award.
Personally, the more it gets pushed back, the less enthusiasm I have for seeing this.

Yeah, Im sure you know better than the most successful director on the entire planet I seriously doubt there is anyone on else on earth that can do BA justice other than Cameron. |

I honestly believe that Cameron will likely die of something typical before he ever gets to Battle Angel.

What with DNF on the verge of proving to not be vaporware, everyone has a renewed sense that maybe they are still in the running. So, hooray, he is still making it... maybe... eventually... if Fox lets him off with just a single trilogy. |

Steven Spielberg already tried his hand on his own "anime"............. and it wasn't good.

Spielberg did that in 46 titles, Cameron in only 17 (according to IMDB). More than half the gross in far less than half the films as well as two of the highest grossing moves of all time, sounds more successful to me. Emerje |
