I'm embarrassed to say this, but I never noticed until now that logging into this website (apparently!) cannot be done with https -- only with http.

Is there any way to log in using https?

After a rather interesting discovery of Google SSL encrypted, I'd wager to say it is possible.

But first, let me explain what Google SSL encrypted is. Essentially it provides a more secure means to conduct search results, and from what I remember reading recently, it also can provide a means to block out third party companies from more or less, make a profile of you.

That being said, I do believe in theory it is possible. You might be able to achieve the end result you want with Google SSL encrypted, but you might also be able to do this with a internet add on.

I am not sure about Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari, but I do know that Fire Fox has some pretty impressive (some more outstanding than others) add on's for their browser, so you might want to check with them if your not having any luck with Google SSL encrypted.

Hope I helped, if you have any more questions, I am more than happy to help if it's in the realm of my knowledge.

We're working on it.

But right now, with the exception of intermediate ssl services like Google, there is no ssl functionality at ANN.

I recently started using Google SSL encryption and it works fantastic for me. It's well worth using and provides some level of searching Google securely.

Throughout the last month or so, I've been doing some research and there are some add on features for Mozilla Firefox that allow you to connect to a HTTPS version of any given site fairly easily. The first add on is named HTTPS everywhere and it will automatically connect you to a HTTPS version of a site, if one exists.

The second add on is not as easy to work with (although it's not that bad once you understand the core concepts) and like the other add on, it's through Firefox. It's called Force TLS. It's on version 3.0.0 now and it's not exactly up to date, it does do a moderately decent job.

However, while you can make a custom list, if there isn't a HTTPS version of the site that exists, then adding a site to the list will only make said site unavailable to access.

But I've got to say Tempest, that is awesome that there will be a HTTPS variation of this site.

Actually we enabled https a little while ago. Just add a "s" to the "http" in the location bar.

Dan seriously? I have HTTPS add on for Firefox installed and maybe it's because I have the subscriber line, but I think I might have missed that detail.

With sites such as Youtube, Wikipedia, it's easy to tell I am online their Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure version of the site, merely due to HTTPS everywhere.

However, I also installed Force TLS and a backup should HTTPS every not connect me to a possible https version, but this program isn't always up to date. Recently though, this program did receive a update, so this should connect to https version of ANN, should HTTPS Everywhere should not.

Thank you enabling https to Anime News network Dan, I am certain this was no easy feat, but it's work such as that makes me proud to subscribe to ANN.
