222 sigs. Wow, Japan. I'm sure there's a joke for this in Youtube somewhere.

"The LDP also wants to revise the law to prosecute those who possess child pornography on their computers and mobile phones, "

I'd normally agree anti-possesion...but this is too situational. It's nearly impossible to prove that the person obtained on their computer on purpose. You can click a bad link and end up with it in your temp files and cache..most people don't know how to clear that. Also someone could text the wrong person and bam..you're in jail. Too iffy. Oh and cartoons are not real people.

Clearly, whenever an imaginary anime child is abused, it means 5 real world children are.

So...is 222 signatures a lot?

This sounds even worse than that Tokyo bill Ishihara cooked up.

The thing with bills like these is that they're not even remotely realistic.

Outlawing the possession of real child pornography is one thing, but trying to add anime/manga/video games would backfire hideously. I mean, considering how many things exist in Japan that could be considered 'obscene' under these new laws means they'd be practically unenforceable. The only way you could be sure is to simply lock up everyone who watches anime, reads manga or plays video games.

One amusing thing to note is that it doesn't apply to novels, because if it did, Ishihara would be on the stand for the underage rape novels he wrote when he was younger.

"The analysis estimates the market for moe products (books, images and games), which are related to anime and manga, is worth 88.8 billion yen (US$800 million)..

ECPAT has been saying Japan’s ‘child pornography market’ is also 88.8 billion yen. They simply call all moe child pornography."

From 2ch comments. So apparently, they want to make owning anything with girls under 18, even if not sexualized, illegal.

Oh brother. Rolling Eyes

Real-life child porn is one thing. But what's the point of expanding the bill into covering anything that is not even real?

222 signatures, that makes me laugh. I'll come back if they get 10,000 signatures on the petition. This child porn laws is getting crazy (I'm not a pedophile, but I do find sexualizing little girl in anime and manga a bit creepy). But this law is just ridiculous because it's targeting anime/manga that are not even pornographic at all.

Yeah, I notice that too. Somebody's trying to abuse the bill power for political purpose. I bet you whoever came up with this is close to Ishihara or used to wrote underage rape novels.

Does Japan have an equivalent of the US Supreme Court?? In case if this passed and opposition challenge this bill and battling it out, they're going to need a Supreme Court so they can rule the bill unconsitutional.

How dare you? You are a monster for even conceiving of the ideas to voice this statement. Every day, over a billion fictional children are savaged by these perverts (who number over 9000), and now we will finally have some justice!

If we will not speak out for the children who do not exist, who will?

i am kind of hoping this passes, as long as it's only what it claims to be (it doesnt seem to be targeting regular, non-pornographic anime and manga, but explicit hentai)

personally i understand that it's a victimless "crime" but, as someone who kind of likes hentai, but has been too terrified to look at any since the handley trial because these producers find a way to shove a loli into every single production, it would be nice to be able to watch and read hentai again without worrying if im breaking the law and going to be registered as a sex offender. i mean the possible risks are far too high and its more likely japan would ban loli than america would decriminalize it.

at the same time i do sympathize with people who like loli, i've never liked it myself but i think it's stupid that it's a crime since these characters arent real.

but if this passes it would mean i could finally watch hentai again.

My question on something like this is how does one say they're underage or not. In both non-hentai and in hentai, some underage girls look much older then they are. However, more commonly, there are plenty of girls who are overage, but look like they're children. Real children have a verifiable birth date, so there is a firm distinction between over and under age.

Look at the quote I posted earlier. Their claims of the child pornographic industry is the exact same amount of money as the moe industry. They're claiming all anime/manga/video games with girls under 18 should be banned.
