Eh...people are probably still recovering from buying millions of Nintendo DS systems, and some others hurting from dishing out the dough for a PSP ><

?????
What do brand new portable gaming systems have to do with sales of 3-4 year old DVDs?

A million units for anime is a huge accomplishment. It will be interesting to see how many units REMIX will sell.

Greeat! Congratulations to Bandai on the success of 1 million Cowboy Bebop units.

But even though its some years later, success can never hide in the corner. Very Happy

It probably would have made 5 million by now if it weren't for such immense Cowboy Bebop bootlegging.

Yeah, I agree. I'm the only one in my group of friends that owns the legimate Bandai DVDs, while everyone else either has them on their PC or just bought the bootleg DVD sets.

Damn bootleggers....

True, but we're speaking of sales in North America alone.

exactly. how many actual hardcore otakus do you know ? even though the show is popular, it's still kind of a niche market here in the US. most people just watch it on cartoon network, as opposed to spending a bunch of money on the dvds. sure it's one of the best animes ever made, but to average joe on the street it's "just an anime".

Though I don't speak or know Japanese myself, the voice acting in the U.S. is better than the Japanese one. Jet just seems to bored in the subtitled version, and Steven Jay Blum just presented an excellent Spike. (was it his first time in the anime buisness) Both versions are good don't get me wrong, but the Dub just defined how anime in the U.S. should be handled.

And I can't wait for the REMIX DVDs. Hearing commentary from Wendee Lee (English Faye) and Japanese Spike and Jet will be the best thing in ANY anime DVD ever, though I hope its subtitled. Very Happy

And how many title actually sold a million copies? DBZ? Yugioh? Not many, I can tell you that. A milllion copies x $20.00 to $30.00 = about $25 Million net income for bandai over the years.

It's still a popular title here and people I know that watch it on CN actually went out and brought the DVD. Anime on TV actually help boost sell, not hurt them.

Therefore it's still a great achivement.

I have the whole series legit, too. Why do people buy CB bootlegged? If there is *any* series that is worth the extra money you pay for legit DVDs, it's Bebop.

PS--Yamadera on the commentary track? Fantastic. I love the guy's voice.
