I first saw this film subbed with my family at the Arts Picture House last summer and I received my Blu-Ray double pack late last week. Even Mum agrees that the Japanese version is a lot better - sure, Mark Strong is good as Pod, which is a shame as he doesn't talk much and Geraldine McEwan has the twist from nice maid to scheming mentally disturbed woman down to a tee but I found Tom Holland's Sho to be incredibly snotty - so much so that I simply couldn't come to like the character.
Also to note - even with the double pack, the extras aren't available on the DVD (most likely because the discs for the double pack were authored amongst the single release discs). This is obviously a strategy to get people to adopt blu-ray more, but in a double pack it is annoying.
I also have to agree with the conclusion. It wasn't until I rewatched it (and with a nudge from Geraldine's Haru) that I realised that she was meant to be the villain.
Also, did anyone else notice the references to The Cat Returns in this film? Such as Haru's name and the crow fighting the cat at the beginning of the film?

Haven't seen it yet, might buy it next month when I've been paid.
(Felt bad that there was only one comment, considering this has been up for ages)

I'll be right in line for movie night. Then, I'll decide on purchasing.
