I really do like the series, although the entire concept so stupid... and people really, really, died!

Ah, here we have an animated version of soft tyranny being used as a form of unbridled power suppressing liberty and freedom to choose while the future of mankind hangs in the balance. Gee, not only can I opt to dig out the old movie from the closet and watch Farenheit 451 in celluloid form but I also have the option of being in the moment watching cable or 1 of the Big 3 US political news repeater organs (which gave up objective investigative reporting 3 decades ago) today and see this occur now in real time. The Japanese story on dvd will probably be enjoyable. Wish I could be as equally at ease over here in real time.

Hmm... the article makes it sound a bit like this is a retelling. I hope it is MORE ... I want MORE.
 I loved the TV series and am currently working my way through the manga adaptation.
