This is something I've been thinking about for a while.
How much money (USD) are you willing to spend per episode?
A. I have no limit
B. Less than 15 dollars
C. Less than 7 dollars
D. Less than 5 dollars
E. Less than 2 dollars
F. I don't buy anime

I can create it for ya, but don't you want to review the options a bit?
For example "willing to pay per episode" seems a bit too far from specific with the price range you gave. Most people don't see it as per episode, but rather per boxsex and bonuses.
Since the premium boxsets are around $60(+-) per 12(+-) episodes, "$5+" would be a more realistic choice than "no limit" (and would open space for lower prices, which can reach out for people who only watch streaming). For B it could be "$2.50 to $4.99". C: "$1.25 to $1.49"; D: "$0.75 to $1.24"; E: "Less than $0.75" (< usually the range of streaming). And if you'd like to add people who import, just have an option F: "I would go as far as to import from Japan".
Just a suggestion though. Feel free to add to it, or go ahead with your original.

I guess I was just trying to factor in Aniplex of America. I know the Madoka LEs were 18.75 an episode if you got them on sale for 75 dollars.
Add less than .75 cents I suppose. That is a good idea.

I have another poll request.
The Rate of your Anime Viewing: Consistent or Sporadic?
-Am I supposed to keep track of this kind of thing?
-I may go months or more without watching anything.
-Very much a binge anime-watcher. I'll marathon or watch large chunks of a series and then won't watch anything for a while.
-I watch whenever I have extra time, so my rate is inconsistent but there aren't huge gaps.
-Anime viewing depends on my schedule but I try to consistently get in at least an ep or two every day.
-Very consistent. Unless there is something special or out-of-the-ordinary going on I watch about the same amount every day.
-GO AWAY I REFUSE TO TALK TO ANYONE UNTIL I'VE SEEN MY QUOTA OF EPISODES FOR THE DAY.
Thanks in advance!
Suggestions for improvement of the poll are always welcome.

I know I can create polls but I wanted to first gauge the interest in doing a sexual orientation poll. Surrender Artist seems to be heading up the "demographics" and "about you" polls so if he's interested I'd just let him create the poll. I'd just like to suggest a relatively all-inclusive list of sexual orientations and common labels for people who don't feel like they fit into an official classification. Sadly I was unable to find a concise list from a respectable source after some quick internet searching, so I will posit the following:
Straight / Heterosexual
Gay / Lesbian
Asexual
Bisexual
Pansexual
Queer
Curious / Unsure
I don't really like the term queer, it feels derogatory to me, but lots of people who identify as GLBT seem satisfied with that label, as they feel the specific sexual orientations don't adequately describe them. And there's also genderqueer but I think that belongs under the gender non-conformity umbrella.
Anyway, bad idea, good idea?

I personally think it's a great idea. Similar polls about sexuality has already been suggested, but I think this is the first one that has options included for everyone. |
Well whether this list can include "everyone" is debatable. I discourage the the use of the category "other" since both the definition of other and sexual orientation differs from person to person. I am a strong supporter of the notion that sexual orientation does not mean what type of sex do you like, various fetishes, interests and deviations included. This is the brick wall I encountered with when trying to find a list of common sexual orientations, it is very complicated and why I'm hesitant in actually doing this poll.

I'd be cool with it. It's not like participation is mandatory.

I think we should have a poll on ANN's racial denominations. The idea just arose from the previously created poll on sexual orientations. My idea for the options would be:
-Asian (continental)*
-Asian (ancestral)**
-African (continental)^
-African (ancestral)^2
-Caucasian
-Pacific Islander (includes Hawai'i and Australia)
-Native American (includes Alaska/Arctic Circle, South and Central America, The Caribbean)
-Hispanic
-Other
*You were born in Asia and have Asian ethnicity.
**You have roots or family history from the Asian continent but do not meet both of the details in the prior description, i.e. an Asian-American resident who has a 100% Asian ethnic background but was born in North America.
^You were born in Africa and have African ethnicity.
^2You have roots or family history from Africa but do not meet both of the details in the prior description, i.e. Roots author Alexander Haley, 44th President of the United States Barack Obama.
The Latino-Hispanic question is covered here also. If you consider yourself to be a person with Iberian/European Spanish ancestry, you choose Hispanic. If you consider yourself to be a person with heritage from Latin and/or South America, you choose Native American.
I'd include a multiracial option, but I want people to be forced to choose with this kind of thing, considering how provocative it can be.

Tenbyakugon--
"Provocative" is the correct term; you really should include a multi-ethnic choice. By the way, Asia is pretty damned huge; you should break it out a bit.
