His comments are unsurprising, particularly for a Japanese person, but that doesn't make me any more okay with them. And this woman happens to like hentai.

Wow after reading this, Toshio seems like a pretty chill guy and I really like his artwork especially the picture of the girl in red in the article. Now I'm kinda curious on what his opinion on 50 Shades of Gray.

Wow this is pretty cool. If you go to his website he explains what people get when they sign up for an annual membership. I am amazed that he would go out of his way to do this for fans. Seems like a really cool guy. I would love to hang out with some of my favorite artists. However, I would be a bit scared if I were him to let a stranger into my house.
"Hello, everyone. It's Toshio.
If you become an annual member, you can get special privileges.
For example, if you would like to come to Tokyo, I could arrange some accomodations near my house for no commission. (The current rate for one night including breakfast and dinner is 5500JPY and 3800JPY including only breakfast. These rates are seasonal and are subject to change).
The only thing you have to arrange is your flight to Tokyo, get to Machida Station, and I'll pick you up in my old beat up car.
During the day, you can go sightseeing in Tokyo (Shinjuku and Yokohama are close by).
Every few days in the evening, while drinking your complimentary tea or beer (at actual charge), you can chat with my wife and I about manga for a few hours. My wife will provide a complimentary snack, too. We can converse in Spanish and English.
At least once during your stay, why don't we go to the world famous, Akihabara, which is know for being the "Geek Mecca of the World"? I'll be your guide for free (you only have to pay for my train fare about 500JPY). We can also go to exciting Asakusa.
Are there any other manga artists providing such service for their fans? If you know, please, tell me!
Tentacle Master is your friend and host.
These special privileges are for annual members only. If you're thinking about coming to Japan for sightseeing, you should seriously consider this offer.
Don't be scared if you're a female fan. I'm a newly married guy, so my tentacle will be on it's best behavior! My wife is always keeping a constant eye on me."

I wonder how many fans have taken him up on this offer?

I was impressed by Toshio Maeda's opinions and the ways he expressed them. He really seems like a cool guy - the charisma Rebecca talked about was really evident. This was a great interview and I enjoyed reading it.

Ha, this is an awesome interview. His website has the same vibe and that Japan host thing is a pretty awesome membership privilege.

I didn't know he also wrote hentai manga for women!

But regarding the historical reasons mentioned: shounen and tenticles and even some politics and religion, it seems like much of that has changed now.

Is there a second part to the interview? It sort of seems like it continues on

I wish it did! This was another of those 15 minute wonders Japan Expo gave me.

For a person who has drawn women being raped to death by demons he seems like a cool dude. While his stuff can be pretty extreme I guess in the end he is just supplying a demand that people wanted.

OK, I have to ask - what is the last image about? Why is a ninja talking about gymnast batons to a woman on a motorcycle?

Or about stuff like Twilight or True Blood or Anita Blake. Monster boinking is totally in vogue right now Laughing

Great interview. For having such a dubious reputation, Maeda seems like a real cool guy

I will repeat what everybody else has said and not that I am quite surprised by how chill, easygoing, and friendly Maeda seems. Also, I find it interesting, and even encouraging, that even the dude who popularized tentacle rape doesn't seem to care for loli porn.
