Oh I hope it goes to Evansville Indiana, that's the closest decent size city I can get too and I'm sure my parents won't let me go if its all the way in Nashville, (still a minor Anime cry ) but I'm definently gonna try to see this, I <3 this movie!

I would love to see this film (and frankly, any Ghibli film) in theaters, but they hardly ever show anywhere near me, with the exception of The Secret World of Arietty.

For the dubbed screenings, I wonder if it'll be the new Sentai one. Razz

Wait, why is there a new dub? Was there something wrong with the original one?

As much as I love Grave of the Fireflies I'd much rather go see Totoro in theatres! It would also be a good chance to introduce the kids of this generation to Studio Ghibli! Very Happy

The audio quality wasn't good enough for bluray. The original masters of the English dub were lost and the only masters remaining could not be used for lossless audio.

The Sentai bluray still includes the original dub in 2.0, and their new dub in DTS-HD Master Audio.

Might take my friend to see this. She's already seen most of Miyazaki's films but nothing from Takahata yet

That is if it plays in a theater near me but in that sense GKids has been good to me. So far all their films have played at my favorite art house theater.

It'd be nice if the news at least gave an idea how wide GKids will be able to distribute. Will those of us in small towns be able to see it, or will it be the usual big cities like NYC and LA and Chicago only?

I'd sure to like to see it, given the good things I've heard about it.

Which makes my DVD SOOOO much golden now. Laughing

Hmm, this is going to be buried in back alley arts houses, isn't it? I can't see many uninitiated American audiences wanting to watch a cartoon that makes the US Air Force look like the bad guys during WW2. Also this is definitely [not] a "kids cartoon" so putting it under the umbrella of "GKids" is a bit dubious as well. This could end in tears just like the movie. Wink

A minor quibble, but the USAF didn't exist in WWII. I'm pretty sure those air raids into Japan were conducted by the US Army.
