So is this going to be a new movie; or a recycling of clips from the second season?

Apparently a new work:

Okay... this plot just seems lame, yet interesting. Section 9 adds on 20 newcomers? WTF?! So two years have passed since the refugee uprising took place in 2034... and now we have another problem... super-wizard-class hacker! Oh noez! I have no idea how the hell to read... "傀儡廻" Puppet something... D: or "梵の刺青" tattoo of purity? Or is it referring to the Bon, lantern, remembering the dead dealy in Japan.

Well, the more GiTS the better AFAIK, I just eat all of it up Smile

Really enjoying the second season so far, but I'm not sure anything will ever top the 1st season of SAC.

It'll be a while for me though until I get to see this, GiTS is one series I feel like I must watch the english dub (the Ghost in the Shell movie really got me into anime). Shoot, I'm still waiting for the R2 UK DVD to get released so I can hear the english dub of Innocence

I'm actually looking forward to it. I live in the states though so it'll be a bit longer for me to see it, more than likely Japan will get a release first no matter how good sales are here. 20 new members... we'll see how that goes. Maybe they'll even keep them if they make a new season.

Well, who says they still can't make one? I think Production IG understands that GiTS is a big thing and yes, they could still make more seasons after this movie. I mean, it's all about the money anyway.

The difference between the two different phrases that both mean "Puppet Master" seems to be splitting hairs. I mean, that can't POSSIBLY just be a coincidence.

Regardless, I'm stoked to see this.

What do you mean? Doesn't the R1 version always have a dub, or is the brit edition significantly better than the us one? In fact, do the eng-dubs of any of the GitS stand up that well? I always watch in Japanese.

I always buy R1s (and all my SACiness so far is R1), so i am interested in this now, especially because i got dupped into buying a bootlegged Innocence (only noticed later, when i saw no brand logos on the covers) and am planning in buying it again.

WEEEEeee! The R2 PAL is the ONLY dub.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Play.com have it in stock now so I don't know why you can't get it yet patch.

The R1 version of GitS: Innocence was released by Dreamworks, who never dub anything, so it was released both theatrically and on DVD as sub-only. The R2 version (available in the UK) has the same English dub cast from GitS: Stand Alone Complex, which is why a lot of US fans are eager to get their hands on it (this one included).

How do you play an R2 DVD on and R1 machine, anyway?

One can not. One must have a multi-region player. Or live in the UK. Wink

It's out and it's lovely. My copy came from Amazon UK about 2 weeks ago. Crispin Freeman is fantastic as a more deadpan and serious Togusa, and they managed to really capture the tone of the first dub, and improved quite a bit on it at that. The video quality, the mix, the menus and the extras are all phenominal -- and I'm a pretty damning critic. This may, in fact, be the best DVD Manga Video has ever produced. Pity it won't come out Stateside.

And, coming full circle, I also threw in the MangaUK dub of AD Police Files, a late-in-life experiment where they tried to dub the entire cast with two actors. Let us be grateful for the progress.

I also got the dub of Millennium Actress, but I haven't watched it yet. I was too anxious to see Innocence on my HDTV. Very Happy

Well, since the rights to Dreamworks entire catalog has been sold, it's always possible for someone to buy off the rights to GitS 2, or for the new owners to possibly option Manga's dub for an R1 release. Not likely, but possible.

Ah, who am I kidding? Anime cry

I'm guessing this is going to be the Stand-Alone Complex continuity's rendition of the Puppet Master story from the manga and movie. spoiler[Probably to allow for a more open-ended ending in order to have an out for making future installments.]
