Oh YES. I hope this means they go for the TV series too.

Should help out those hesitant at buying it due to the large prize of the old CPM release.

I've already seen it, but great news for those who have yet to check out this fun anime franchise.

Good news for Patlabor and Mamoru Oshii fans, I guess.

I've never been a big fan of Oshii, though, so I think I'll pass. Neutral

Same here, I really hope so.

Awesome news, especially since I never managed to get the previous DVD releases, I'm totally in for the Blu-ray.

Is it going to be redubbed? I already have the CPM version but if a better dub comes along I might be persuaded to rebuy...

Awesome. This was a fun show and good dub. I might have to get blu ray when I get the chance. I will throw my hat into the group hoping this leads to the tv series getting re licensed. I never thought it would happen.

Now my collection will be complete!

@SpacemanHardy

Netflix it after it comes out, I think you'll be surprised if you think it's typical, brooding Oshii.

I managed to get the DVDs of the TV series and movies 1 and 2 a couple years ago when they were available and relatively cheap, but the OAV series was the thing I couldn't snag. It irked me because, as I found later, the TV series and movies exist on a separate continuity line, with the OAVs apparently preceding the movies.

As soon as I get the OAVs, I can watch those, then finally watch those movies that they always regard so highly on ANNCast.

Awesome! Maiden Japan has scored another series that I've been wanting to buy for years. They're even doing it on bluray. Nice job!

That's one reason why I'm glad I didn't rush to buy an used copy of this last year. Hopefully they'll also have access to better quality video footage than that previous Patlabor release too.

If they're going to release it on bluray, they would have to have access to better masters. Perhaps they were able to get the original film masters, or perhaps a new digital copy of them.
