Razz The first two lines wrote themselves, so I couldn't resist crafting a third that would fit.

Man, I was really dreading adding up my January total. For good reason - it has ended up being my most expensive month, evar. For those who didn't notice my posts in the What Did You Just Buy thread, the reason was very simple: I came across a woman who was selling off her entire anime collection, much of which was OOP. I didn't even coming close to buying all of her stuff, but I did get dinged to the tune of $1,310 from her alone. Throw in a couple of TRSI packages and a late month flurry of figure buying and you get:

Grand Total: $2,272.49 (eff me)

Anime: $1,861.32 (30.5 TV, 20 Ovas, 9 movies)
Figures: $285.77 (4)
Shipping: $72.53
Handling: $39.85
Sales Tax: $133.20

Loss to Curr. Diff: $8.73

I'm hoping to stay around 4k for the whole year, so I've already blown slightly over half my budget in the first month.

Not possible, I'm already retired, have been for a few years now. In any case, while compound intrest can be a good deal, the current rates for a "tiny bit" is currently substantially below 1% and is likely to stay there for the forseeable future.

Ain't that the truth! At current rates it'll take approx 144 years to double a one time investment. Yes, that is one hundred and forty four years.

I'm glad i can take advantage of this deployed 10% Savings deposit program, I maxed it out the first month. Can't even get 1% on a CD, the market is still a roller coaster and I don't have enough extra to put down $10,000 at a whack into 5% munis.

2013 so far:
Anime: 0
Manga: 0
Games: $20 on an old SSI DnD so i could get the original gold box and diskettes (because I already have it on CDs)

2012 (a guess):
Anime: approx $900
Manga: 0
Games: approx $700 - I bought every original SSI Gold Box DnD they made, plus a few CD collections so i can actually Play them.

I have a lot of other expensive hobbies / interests, e..g., boating (BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand) Canon Manual Focus SLR Film Cameras, like the F-1 (Best camera ever made) and T90 , cycling (Renyolds forever, and orig Campy Record LF hubs are Expensive), marksmanship, ThinkPad computers, and of course Cadillacs. Razz

Having four Cadillacs can get expensive. I don't really use any more fuel (I'm using none right now and this issued POS truck get's free fillups at the fuel point), but the insurance starts to get ludicrous. Plus the STS has a High monthly payment, so there's less to go around for anime, which I'm still way behind on watching.

Guess I'll get this going. I don't intend on buying anything else this week since I've got Secret of Mamo being processed via Rightstuf and my hands are tied with worrying about bills. With February nearly done, let's get this rolling:

Fafner TV/ Heaven and Earth Movie = $51.34
Hellsing Ultimate Box Sets = $74.05
3x3 Eyes Volumes = $15.86
Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl Singles = $14.43
Tenchi Muyo GXP/ Loups=Garous = $14.81 (used gift card to cover most of payment)
Hakkenden: Legend of the Dog Warriors Box Set = $8.39
Lupin III: Secret of Mamo = $17.99

February Total: $196.87

YTD Total: $425.73

Not as bad as last month, though I see I almost hit the $200 mark. Next month might be more costly for me since the remaining titles I have interest in are fairly recent releases and more pricey than what I've been getting the past couple weeks.

Any month I can pick up more OT than frostbite is one I'm inclined to regard as not merely good, but effin' fantastic. Just this past week I picked up another 20.5 hours. That alone covered the majority of my frivolous non essential expenses for February.

As usual I offered TRSI the bulk of my discretionary
[7] book/artbook/novel
[4] blu-ray
[5] dvd
[89] manga
[3] t-shirt
$1,214.56 Total

my Dec '12 J-List pre-order shipped
[1] Capsule Q Fraulein Fate/Zero small figure set
$47.65 Total

AmiAmi came through with
[1] Gunbuster Figure
$63.60 Total

...and to my surprise I ended up ordering quite a bit from Amzn US
[1] Dvd (a double dip for Birdy complete)
[1] Tamaki Kawazoe figure from a reseller
[2] VHS (Blue Sonnet OVA)
[3] manga (Heart of Thomas, Message to Adolf)
[8] manga (Angelic Layer Omnibus, The Limit, The Color of Earth,)
[1] manga from a reseller (Land of the Blindfolded)
$36.93
$105.28
$15.17 & 22.19
$58.26
$86.53
$11.64

$336.00 Total

$1,661.81 Combined Total for the month

I was getting bored here trying to figure out this T90 and getting the SL 300TL flash to synch at 1/250, not to mention the undecipherable Command Back, so I dropped about $300 on some more anime, all from amazon.com (because there is no anime store out here in the desert!).

Most notable was Baka and Test season 2, which is stupid funny, but that's exactly why I like it! It's the best anime slapstick since School Rumble (which I left at home). It got here yesterday - that was fast! The rest is still in transit.

Somehow I got the T90 & 300TL flash to synch at 1/250, but man that camera is a PITA to operate when one is used to an F-1.

Last day of the month so I might as well sum up:

Manga 21 volumes for $199.64
Figures 3 for $250.88
Bluray 7 shows for $361.17
DVD 3 shows for $84.94
Shipping and Handling $26.91
Tax $34.29

Total for the month $912.83

New manga titles seem to go down every month lately. Other wise a normal month.

I'm moving too, but this is mostly me consciously trying to cut down:

Manga: $18.79
Figures: $117.88
February Total: $136.67

YTD Total: $672.53

February '13

Grand Total: $401.42

Anime: $0 (0.5 TV)
Figures: $296.82 (3)
Shipping: $72.35
Handling: $9.95
Sales Tax: $22.30

Lost $8.71 in currency exchange.

Well, much better than January's $2,200+ damage. If you are wondering how I spent $0 on anime but still managed to get half of an anime TV title, that's because I'm counting A Certain Magical Index LE, Part 1 which was given to me by our Mysterious Community Forum Benefactor. I also spent $10 to pick up a used copy of Aeon Flux, but since that isn't an anime title, I'm not putting it in the above figures. Man, I can't remember the last time I spent $0 on anime in a calendar month.

March should be pretty light as well. The only expenditures I know of for sure will be $20 US to renew my ANN subscription and $50 US for my Anime North Weekend Admission pass.

Ugh. February was a bad, bad month for my budget. My total: $418.54, up from $291.44 in 2012.

My biggest expenses this month were Nisemonogatari, which I had budgeted for, and the FUNimation sale at RightStuf, which sucked me in for A Certain Magical Index, and some soundtracks in the bargain bin (unexpected purchases).

My year-to-date total is $485.48, compared to $445.15 in 2012. Definitely heading in the wrong direction when my goal is to cut expenses this year. Looking at my March totals from last year, I should be able to make up some of that ground. We'll see how it works out.

Anime: $53.98
Total so far for the year: $109.97

I'm doing very well so far. I just have to keep telling myself I don't want any more NISA releases, nope, not at all. They're awesome but they add up quickly.
