Yaoi fan here. In my opinion both yaoi/BL and yuri are both pretty niche. But we do seem to get more yaoi over here but I don't think it some sort of conspiracy. It's just that "yuri", the kind aimed mostly at straight men, is pretty prevalent over here, except in live action form. While lesbian porn for lesbians is probably extremely niche in both countries.
We yaoi fans get mostly manga though, anime seems pretty scarce. Unless you count the recent popularity of subtext in regular anime, then we really don't get much at all. Yes, there is manga but even that part of the industry is barely staying afloat. My advice for those of you who want more yuri, besides buying what's available, is make your own! Lots of yaoi fans do, if Amazon is anything to go by. Some of it seems to be actually pretty good. There seems to be less hostility towards OEL/world manga among yaoi/BL fans. |

Yeah, this is roughly equivalent to me watching HxH and whining that there aren't enough female characters for me to ship with each other. Which, I'll have you know, I don't do. Because that would be really silly. |

I never even mentioned Bakemono...? But Dog Days DOES have Gaul and Shinku...mmm. In any case, looking for yaoi subtext in otaku anime is fun. Mainly because of how non-existent it is.

Which is fine. But then you turning around and whining about "yuri fans" of the same shows is just intensely irritating. Also shows like that are a great way to prompt massive arguments on /u/, for reasons which should be obvious. |

On a completely different note...
The question about being able to wipe your memory and watch a show with a clean slate was amusing because the exact topic came up in this week's episode of Yuyushiki. (Whoever asked question #3, Yukari totally agrees with you.  )
That said, a semi-recent Cracked article posits that spoilers can actually enhance your enjoyment of a movie (or show), since you're not as focused on the plot developments and the suspense, so you can relax and take in everything else about the movie and be able to get a better understanding of it. I'd agree with that myself to some extent. In my opinion, plot twists are overrated. A lot of "spoilers" are highly predictable, and any plot twist worth talking about shouldn't lose its impact on future viewings, as they should be genuinely good turning points for the story in and of themselves. Sure, that first viewing and the suspense and surprise within are all great, and as Brian said, if you want to re-live that experience, show it to someone else who hasn't seen it! But besides that, I'd say it's still worth re-watching those shows, as now that you aren't being gripped by the plot, you can go ahead and catch all those little details that you couldn't notice before... a completely different, yet potentially even more fulfilling experience. |

Usually people will re-watch a movie or series to catch those details. The first viewing should be relatively pure. Little spoilers may make us excited (like a particularly cool move the hero does), and having at least a vague sense of the story before watching something is often useful and appreciated. After all, that's why books have blurbs. But massive plot twists being spoiled beforehand is just not on. If someone had spoiled Sixth Sense to me before I watched it I am certain I would not have gotten the same "aha" moment when it all became clear. Moments like those are priceless and should not be denied. |

People still watch and enjoy them, even if they know the plot twists that used to be it's mayor points.
