Ep. 6
So far, the series has been doing a decent job with violence, absurdity, odd fetishes, and romance. The "twist" wasn't that surprising; the spoiler[VP] did say Iwai shouldn't trust guys before spoiler[pushing her into the water.] If the Killing Goods simply have to be associated with death, then can anything be a weapon? Like a plant or headphones or a broom? Still find it hilarious that Seigi's power is spoiler[to hang people convicted of crimes] concerning who his voice actor is. Laughing

I've been wanting to ask this since episode 2. What's the big idea with making all the fight scenes into questionably strange color hues? It looks so strange and in this episode, the changes from normal to fight scene were really awkward.

Censorship perhaps?
Usually, when they change hues, the bloodshed isn't as red. When spoiler[Kiri cut a part of Romio's mouth], they probably couldn't show it on TV without some modification. If it's gone on the DVD/BD version, then that's probably it. Otherwise, stylish points?

The Ruka/Romio relationship is a lot different than initially expected. I liked that Kiri came out and said what he was upset about. Usually things like that get blown out of proportions over a longer time frame due to not saying anything.

Episode 6

"spoiler[I wanted to be a princess.]" Confused

Seriously that was it? Not being spoiler[bullied by the other girls], or the girl in spoiler[her class used the boys to bully her]? She spoiler[wanted to be a princess in a class play]. That is like worse reason to kill than what Kei Munakata gave.

And add spoiler[femdom (female dominance)] to the list of fetishes. Was an interesting twist.

This episode was love. Anime hyper Their first fight! Couples need to fight, you know?

AND OH MAI GAWD.
That ending scene.
SO CUTE.
SOOOOO CUTE.

Ruka's reason for being TEH EVULZ was lame, sure. But I was far too busy squealing over the best couple in this anime season to really even care about anything else. Anime hyper

Which leads me to my favorite moment this episode, spoiler[he adorable misunderstanding and clumsy romantic moment followed by dancing under the stars.] I love the romance in this series too much, it's incredibly cute/weird

I know right......I KNOW RIGHT!?
I can't get enough of this. <3
Nothing is more romantic than spoiler[dancing under the STARS. NOTHING.]
If only they had been wearing nicer clothes....man, that would have been so perfect.....;w; But yeah...camp....you don't dress up. Anime hyper

It's funny....I thought RDG would be the romance anime of this spring...but no, so far Crime Edge is kicking its ass in that department. Anime hyper I love KirixIwai SO much more than IzumikoxMiyuki.
..............probably because Kiri's um.....capable of being bad-ass AND a caring (boy)friend.
OH LOOK, THAT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE. Who'd of thought THAT? Rolling Eyes
(yes, yes, I know Miyuki's getting there and he'll develop more...but I 100% prefer Kiri, hands-down!)

and all it took was finding a pair of magically cursed scissors, finding a girl with long magically cursed hair that only your magically cursed scissors can cut and protecting that girl from an assortment of crazy people with equally crazy fetishes

Caught up on episodes 4-6 today. Been a while since I've had such mixed feelings on a series xD On the one hand, some of the weird fetishes just really make me uncomfortable. (I originally defended my enjoyment of the first ep by saying that "at least hair-cutting is less gross than drool"...SURPRISE!) I also don't like the show's tendency to make fools out of its female characters, especially Iwai. I like her, and I like her even more now that she's shown some backbone, but whenever she has a cool, brave moment the show seems determined to drag her back down by having her spoiler[wet herself], spoiler[almost get gangraped], etc.

But then, something like that spoiler[dancing] scene happens and suddenly I don't care about any of that xD I just love the sweet/weird dynamic between Kiri and Iwai. I don't even know what it is about them; they just seem so genuinely passionate about each other in a really bizarre way. Actually, I've really liked all of the Author/Instead relationships in this show. Even the most recent pair turned out to be really interesting. I liked the pianist and tuner pair a lot too. And Seigi is...interesting xD Groan @inspector's name being Zenigata.

Actually I think Iwai is rather smart; in dire situations, she does use her head and she fights back to the best of her ability. I don't feel that the spoiler[wetting] scene was demeaning to her character. It was actually kind of realistic. That Author was bloody terrifying, it was pitch dark and she very well knew he was trying to kill her.
..........wouldn't most people have that same reaction?
Not that I approved of it-I could have done well without it...but I don't think it was intended to "make a fool" out of her.

^"I like her even more now that she's shown some backbone." So yes, I agree about Iwai's character. I actually like her a lot. Smile

What I disagree about is the show's treatment of her. It seems like the writers are out to humiliate her whenever she demonstrates that backbone, and often in a highly fetishized way. Wetting herself may have been "realistic", but in a fictional show, it's an unnecessary element. In other contexts, such an inclusion is often meant to humiliate the character. The framing clearly fetishized the scene and the way it was in full view of the camera--and the entire audience--felt very belittling to me. It's worth mentioning, though, that the spoiler[rape] scene bothered me a lot more than the bed-wetting scene. Of course, we can never know the intent of the writers in these scenes, but it feels very mean-spirited to me. As a result, it makes me feel uncomfortable.

(I'm also very, very sick of almost every heroine I meet being subjected to spoiler[rape], attempted or actual. Call it a pet peeve.)

You are not alone there, sister. Rolling Eyes
Iwai's didn't really bother me...because it didn't go too far.

But yeah, I hate that. That's why I try to avoid shoujo manga for older girls. IT IS UNPLEASANT SMUT.

Episode 7
Not too much to say this episode but glad that spoiler[Ryoko got some highlights and a glimpse of Kashiko's past at the saloon was kinda awkward.]

I guess next week's will be an episode for Kiri and Iwai to remember.

I liked the way Kiri's reaction (and Iwai's) at the hotel entrance was shot. Very Happy

Episode 07.

DAYUM....Kiri looks so good in a suit! *.*

And I loved Iwai's "jealous pouty face". X3

.......in fact, I loved this scene so much, I took some screenshots. XD

HAY KIRI-KUN....
DON'T OOGLE OTHER GURLZ >:[
Would an escort in this devilishly handsome suit make up for it?
My Queen?
Well.....it just may....:)

I'm so disappointed in the lack of new fetishes being introduced in this episode. However, Houko's various attire throughout this episode and Kashiko made up for it.

I was happy about it. Anime hyper

But are you sure it wasn't panting? They kept focusing on the characters' breathing-even drawing clouds....as if it was cold enough to see their breath! Rolling Eyes

I think whatever fetish is satisfied by the bodice-ripper book was touched on.
