Mostly recast, but isn't Aya Hisakawa still in the business? I would have preferred she return as Ami/Mercury.
Still, I am looking forward to this.

I have that feeling too. it would be ashame that the whole season would only have the dark kingdom arc.
though one thing is for sure. if it ever gets licensed in the US, at least it won't get a massive hack job like in the 90's where it unfortunately got strangle hold by DIC.

That list getting a new communication device or the like as non-filler though. A lot of times that happened without any real story advancement. |
On top of which, the Doom Tree and Nehelenia Arcs were completely original to the anime. Even if the first 6 episodes of Stars are my favorite of the series. |
Except they're not filler for the anime. You can't skip over them. And the anime is a different story from the manga, overall, anyway. The anime's not a strict adaptation.

Actually the original anime was dubbed by Premium Productions.

Continuing from what I wrote here:
Sailor Star Dust wrote: | Hope they'll do the other seasons since the original was a surprise hit and that's what made them produce R, etc. (Naoko was going to end it after the Dark Kingdom manga arc.) |
Somebody on Twitter noticed if Crystal is straight up animating each chapter, then 26 Acts = end of the Black Moon arc (Sailor Moon R, season 2). But I personally think it's more likely they'll animate the Dark Kingdom manga arc, see how successful it is, then go from there.
5 manga arcs + let's say 26 episodes each season for enough development = 150 episodes total. That'd be a good 7 years or so if they keep the online only, twice a month airtime schedule.
At least it'd be less than 200 episodes.

Yeah, they'll definitely only do the Dark Kingdom arc this series, and go from there.
Bi weekly is still bullshit though.

As long as it means they're not just rushing through the story (everybody involved seems like they want to make a good finished product--Mitsuishi handpicked the new seiyuu during their auditions) and the animation is high quality, I don't mind.

That's Optimum Productions, actually.

You must not have read the manga then. |
Clearly, my comment was a joke referring to the old anime if you cared to think before replying.....you know, hence the word "New." Assume if you want.

I'm pretty sure this will be just the Dark Kingdom arc. Perhaps the other arcs will be adapted later on under different titles ("Crystal" does tie into the Dark Kingdom's plot). If 26 episodes was the first couple arcs, there would be little to no room for character development, which, frankly, was missing from the manga.

And they just did the voice recording/casting and final scripts. The editing and "hack jobbing" was still DiC's doing.

People forget how fast the manga moves. If it's just the Dark Kingdom arc, there's going to be major padding or structural changes to the story. It also sets weird precedent for any future seasons (e.g., are they really going to follow the manga and have most of the senshi be out of commission for half the Black Moon arc?).

It's still Toei. Bi-weekly doesn't mean they're taking more time, it just means they have a lot of other crap to churn out.
