But the trailer makes me a bit jealous. If only Toei put so much effort into Dragon Ball Kai. |
Looks like Gundam UC is all the Tohru Furuya we're getting for this year.

I'm disappointed that Tohru Furuya won't be returning as Tuxedo Kamen, especially as he can still do the voice. I was hoping that "the couple"'s seiyuu would at least be retained, or even just Usagi & Luna.
I feel it's either all or nothing. I'm more than fine with new seiyuu for the characters, but having Mitsuishi come back when the others aren't just feels wrong to me.
Yeah, I know...(insert Naoko meme here)

So agreed. I love anime 'Fruit Loop' Minako. The manga version was kind of unmemorable.
This trailer looks gorgeous - it's making me even more excited to see the new series. Flowing hair, everywhere...I'm...I'm so happy. |
I like serious Minako from the manga. At least she has to act serious the first time she shows up because she's pretending to be the moon princess. She can't act like a goofball when she has a princess to protect. And if I recall she doesn't stay serious so I think it'll be fine. I especially hope Rei's manga personality is in this new anime. I'm looking forward to it. |
Hmm, you make a good point. She's not second-in-command in the anime, so that would explain why she's more relaxed and goofy. I did enjoy the flashback to Silver Millennium and how aggravated Venus got by Princess Serenity's flightiness.
I wasn't able to get a really good grasp of the girls personalities in the manga, whereas in the anime, their personalities came through pretty clearly. Either it's because the manga pacing is fairly fast, or because I read it in Japanese and my Japanese is...not good.
Edit: Love that Naoko meme. |
True, the pacing is fast in the manga. I think that's why she has all those extra comics so that we get a better glimpse of their personalities. In the original anime you get to see them actually act like school girls like going shopping and crushing on boys. I can't remember them really doing that in the manga so the first anime was good with that. I just hope Crystal isn't as fast as the manga.

The new graphics is poor, and I heard that some lead voice actors from the old Sailor Moon are missing (MIA or KIA).
I wanted the old graphics to be tuned with the new tech, but no they changed and they failed miserably.
The music is not that old good songs I like to hear and still listening to them (You're just my love. Sailor Stars Theme, etc), where is my first Japan Anime go.

...then go re-watch the 90's anime, since that seems to be what you want.

OH MY GOD.
Go read the manga.
IT'S A CHAIN.
To be fair, the way they drew them makes them look more like beads, but it's a chain of red jewels.

I'm fine with Tohru not coming back. Even if he can do his voice, the Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen in this adaption isn't like the one in the anime. He's younger, and has a much different personality. This newer voice fits him better because, even though Tohru was great, he made him sound older than he actually is.

Will we get any more Sailor Scouts to reflect the bodies we've discovered since Sailor Stars ended?
However, PLUTO! IS! STILL! A! PLANET! Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune don't "clear their neighborhoods"! Why is Pluto-Charon any different? It's a binary planet with an ice composition; let's just leave it at that. Ditto Sedna, Quaoar, Eris, Makemake, and all the other little ice worlds beyond Neptune's orbit.

Your beef with that is with the science community, not an anime forum, dude.

Eh, I don't know... Love the animation, but the designs look Clamp-ish in action. Maybe I just never noticed it in the original series, but it puts me off for some reason.

A lot of people have touched on this, and I think it's completely valid: I'm not so much concerned with the look or the plot, I'm concerned about the characters. Something about this new style looks too....plain? Too perfect? Too glossy? And I mean that in terms of how it reflects the idiosyncrasies of each of the girls, Venus being the best example.
I think that at this point it is impossible to completely separate the original manga from the original anime. They have come to be so closely associated, and what we don't see/learn in one is gleaned in the other, and thus they have come to supplement each other in our minds, and it's all the best from both of them. For example, characterizations and daily life from the anime, and then the lore from the manga.
I just hope I come to love these new shiny sailor guardians as much as I love my old sailor scouts.
(Also, they better NAIL the pacing with the first season...I want emotional highs and lows around every corner, I better be snot-and-tears-ugly-crying when that finale comes.)

It looks like it's trying too hard to be a throwback to the original series, that's what the problem is.
